The Improving Farm Productivity Grant Round 2 opened for expression of interest applications yesterday. The grant, made available through the Farming Investment Fund channel, is open to farm businesses and provides potential funding for capital items to improve productivity including: - Automated or robotic equipment for use in crop and livestock production - Solar equipment installation For automated and robotic equipment the grant can offer between ￡25,000 - ￡500,000 for up to 40% of the total cost of eligible items. For the solar equipment, the grant can offer between ￡15,000 - ￡100,000 for up to 25% of the total cost of eligible items. Applicants can apply for both robotic or automated and solar equipment, however, the maximum grant funding cannot exceed a total of ￡500,000 for both applications cumulatively. Why did we make our planting stations at 2-3m radius? 1. To be able to use a slasher to control weeds instead of digging weed plant roots with a hoe. We term the practice #minimumtillage. It has a lot of advantages (and disadvantages too, of course). In our case, we're also not using herbicides. Herbicides have a lot of residual effects on the consumer's health. 2.
