A few weeks have passed since the organization of the "SDG Cooperation Forum: Private Sector for Sustainable Development." During this time, we have been working with the messages and arguments presented both on stage and behind the scenes. Here are three key takeaways: ?? Business is the driving force of Sustainable Development, but in our country, both at the level of the population and the elites, there is still a prejudice about the exclusively financial motivation of entrepreneurs. Yes, without profit, business loses its purpose, but it is also the most interested stakeholder in the comprehensive development of the country and the well-being of its residents – its employees and consumers. Until this worldview is formed in society, many entrepreneurs do not prioritize the implementation of Sustainable Development principles in their strategies. ?? In the process of Moldova's European integration, it is in the interest of businesses to implement ESG principles. Without this, access and partnership in the European market may be limited in the coming years. European companies are already highly dependent on the demand for Sustainability from consumers and civil society, and non-financial reporting is becoming mandatory for an increasing number of companies. Along the product chain, these requirements are transmitted to suppliers, including foreign ones, which is a serious challenge for Moldovan companies as well. ?? The promotion of ESG in Moldova is taking its first steps – this is evidenced by the increased activity of several Associations of foreign investors in training member companies and their local suppliers. However, priorities have not yet been outlined in state policy, which could serve as additional motivation for businesses. Our goal was not just to organize an event with an informational component but to give an impulse to communication between business, government and international partners in the public field. The campaign succeeded and will continue after the second round of elections. The main conclusion, however, is that it is necessary to continue to motivate stakeholders to speak the same language and outline goals and interests that are clear to them and the general public.
?? In early October, PARC Communications organised the ‘SDG Cooperation Forum. Private Sector for Sustainable Development’. The event and the accompanying communications campaign were organised on the initiative of ONU Moldova and the Foreign Investors Association in the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova and key stakeholders from public authorities, civil society and the private sector from all sectors. ?? We invite you to explore the presentations of the speakers on the website www.sdgmoldova.org ?? The PR campaign is still ongoing – we are preparing videos and interviews with private companies that presented their success stories at the Forum in implementing Sustainable Development Goals. These stories could serve as inspiration for other private businesses in the country.

The saying is “Content is King”. It’s amazing how we can repurpose content for different platforms. So not only did we have Wangiwe Joanna Kambuzi speak at the conference, but now we can share her talk and further develop it into smaller pieces of content for other platforms to get her message across. And now Malawi has one of the cheapest internet in Africa, which means the access to such knowledge can reach some further most parts to those who didn’t physically attend. For now, enjoy this talk https://lnkd.in/dH2d6DXD
