It’s Your Circus ?? Sometimes our lives can feel like we are ringmasters of a three ring circus that might seem to be getting a bit wild. Ring 1 is the work ring, necessary but can be disruptive to the rest of the circus. Ring 2 is the one where all of our other daily activities perform, which sometimes might look like a bunch of clown cars out of control. Ring 3 is where personal time and self care take place but often overlooked because it is happening overhead, like a tightrope walker. This is the act that requires great balancing skill and sometimes without a net. So how can we become better ringmasters? ?? schedule time for each ring and dedicate time for each performance. ?? don’t add any more acts unless you have the capacity for the extra work. ?? ask for help, sometimes it might be the clowns that can be of service. ?? don’t forget to take care of the tightrope walker and ringmaster, self care and family are your safety net. As the ringmaster it’s up to you to organize your circus so that you too are having fun. #itsyourcircus #activatedlife #healthandwellness #selfcare #livealohalivewell #underafullmoonandaguidingstar #alakaiassociates

THE CIRCUS ELEPHANT STORY! Ever heard of the story of the elephant in the circus? While still a baby, the elephant was tied by its leg to a stake driven into the ground. Then he made several attempts to yank off the rope and escape but couldn't as the rope was too strong for him at that age. So the elephant gave up and never tried again. Later, when it grew up, the elephant remembered all the efforts and the failures and still believed it could not escape from the rope, standing in the same place despite the fact it could then easily escape as it has an extraordinary strength this time. It sounds unbelievable this gigantic and powerful animal limited its capacity by the past failure. Isn't this the case with some of us humans? Hunted and limited by our past experiences. We certainly all have some tasks that we tried and failed in the past. But we are smarter than elephants and we know that we grow over time and become smarter and stronger. Unlike the elephant story, we learn from our mistakes and failures, we are smart enough to lose the fear of failing again and believe that we are now more capable to break the limits. So, overcome your fear, break your limits and realize that you are capable of accomplishing anything you want. It's time to face your challenges, don't you think so? #nolimits #impossibilityisnothing #noexcuses #nofear #freedom #overcomefear #overcomingchallenges #limitless #nobarriers

“Our research shows that for every dollar invested for a child in a circus training program, seven dollars are potentially saved in their future mental health costs,” said lead researcher Dr Richard McGrath. Bridges has long been an advocate for the arts as a means of providing accessible wellbeing programs and offering communities an opportunity to share stories that are important to them. Bridges offers support to young people and families through their Family Mental Health Support Service with offices in Gayndah and Kingaroy and outreach across the Burnett region. Feedback from our team working in the Burnett was that young people needed something in the school holidays to engage them socially and physically. We approached Flipside Circus, Queensland’s largest youth focused arts organisation, who offer circus training programs across Queensland. So why is a mental health service organisation supporting a circus workshop program to tour the region you might ask? Circus training and performing is a fantastic way of maintaining physical and mental wellbeing. There is a wealth of academic and scientific research that has been conducted in Australia and internationally that demonstrates the wellbeing benefits of participating in circus. Circus skills includes a variety of acrobatics (including tumbling, balancing and trampoline), juggling, aerials (such as trapeze, silks and lyra) and hoops as experienced in the recent Flipside Circus workshops. Research conducted by the University of South Australia in 2019, analysing the experiences of 55 participants in a children’s (aged 8-14 years) circus school program, demonstrated that there were significant improvements in the young people’s mental wellbeing; particularly stress relief, self-esteem, confidence and socialisation. The study showed that there is a quantifiable social return from circus. DMX lighting universe? Sure. Easy. LED jumbotron wall? Sure. Easy. Hardware, software, and content for a universe of individual light fixtures masquerading as a double-sided hall-length "screen"? ... Yeah, we do that too.
The Lake Effect. 3,910 LED lights dancing in harmony. Nine modules revealing Lake Michigan throughout the year. One unforgettable space within the 360 Chicago Experience: https://bit.ly/4cR3Jch

Last month, the circus gave me the perspective I needed. ? I saw two shows in June and left feeling inspired, almost giddy. ? The audience gasped as people spun, balanced, swung on silks, bars, trampolines, and more. "This is their job," I thought. Having a nephew who is in the circus, I recognize the grueling schedule, the incredibly hard work. It's not all fun and games for sure… but there is something so special if you have ever seen one of these shows. ? As time has passed since the last show, I realized that I'm still thinking about it. And thinking about that sort of job and how effortless it all looked - and what I took away from witnessing it. ? 1. The #confidence! The time, skill, dedication and showmanship undertaken to participate in the likes of cirque du soleil is awe-inspiring. All of that practice, falling down and getting back up-- the show must go on. Knowing you got this thing. ? 2. #Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Truly. The #trust we see between these folks on stage. They are literally entrusting their safety in each other. The slight nod indicating "I'm ready to toss you/catch you" - wow. ? 3. Everyone has a 'core skill' but no one does only one thing. The juggler is also a 'base' for acrobatics. The clown also sings. The tumbler also walks the tightrope. A #range of skills builds the team and has people work with each other in different ways. ? 4. Lastly (that I'll mention today) -- the #joy. Watching people in their element, with people they trust. It just felt GOOD to be in that energy. ? All of these elements - confidence, teamwork, trust, skill-building, joy -- they are the pieces that make our work special, too. What would you add to the list?

Circustry: circus + sophistry and to a lessor extent industries which promote it. Circus From Latin circus (“ring, circle”), from Proto-Indo-European *sker, *ker (“to turn, to bend”). Doublet of cirque. A traveling company of performers that may include acrobats, clowns, trained animals, and other novelty acts, that gives shows usually in a circular tent. A round open space in a town or city where multiple streets meet (figurative) A spectacle; a noisy fuss; a chaotic and/or crowded place Verb: To take part in a circus; or to be displayed as if in a circus Sophistry From Old French sophistrie, from Latin sophista, from Ancient Greek σοφιστ?? (sophist?s, “wise man”), from σοφ?ζω (sophízō, “I am wise”), from σοφ?? (sophós, “wise”). Cunning, sometimes manifested as trickery The art of using deceptive speech or writing An argument that seems plausible, but is fallacious or misleading, especially one devised deliberately to be so Professing to be wise they became fools. This phrase comes from Romans 1:22, part of a passage where Paul speaks about humanity’s tendency to reject God’s truth, despite having knowledge of Him. The full context highlights how people, though they claim to be wise, often exchange the glory of God for idolatry and falsehood, leading to moral and spiritual downfall. In this case, Paul is critiquing those who, by their own standards of wisdom, turn away from divine truth and instead embrace misguided thinking and behavior. It underscores the irony of human pride and the limitations of earthly wisdom when disconnected from God. As for people so too for the nation and nations. Othniel Max Daves

A powerful story told well will connect with you at a soul level… Storytelling at its finest yesterday at the Edward Scissorhands ?? ballet ?? Not a word spoken but the audience were gripped to their seats and lots of tears shed throughout (me included ??) It’s one of my favourite films of all time but the ballet took it to another level - I was in awe Here are 5 personal reflections from this incredible performance about acceptance, identity, & compassion ?? 1. Embrace your uniqueness and differences - celebrate your individuality and appreciate the beauty in what makes you different. Rather than conforming, embrace your quirks and find your own place in the world 2. Compassion transforms lives. Fact - the power of empathy and understanding can transform lives. Extend kindness to those who seem different or misunderstood. Everyone carries their own burdens and stories 3. Adaptability and resilience - life will throw curveballs your way so resilience is essential. Learn to pivot, find creative solutions, and keep moving FORWARD despite adversity 4 Appearances can deceive: - look beyond surface-level perfection and appreciate the complexities within ourselves and others. True beauty lies in authenticity and vulnerability 5. Love conquers all: - love doesn’t always follow conventional norms; it can bridge gaps and defy expectations. Cherish love wherever we find it, even if it defies societal norms ? anyone else out there ia fan of this movie? Have you seen Matthew Bourne’s adaptation in the ballet? ?? #sundayvibes #ballet #theatre #embraceuniqeness #edwardscissorhands https://lnkd.in/efpYyJPF - watch this ??
