Here's a few helpful tips for everyone wrapping up CCW today... 1) Drink water. You likely took advantage of some open bar fun... do yourself a favor and get some water in your system. 2) Start practicing your "that's interesting" nod for all the demos you just signed up for. 3) Email filters. Do your future self a favor and set up some email filters now because you're likely on dozens of new sales lists from all those booths you visited. 4) Use the swag wisely. You have a great opportunity to turn all that branded junk into moments of "I thought of you while I was on my trip." ?? HELP - I need your input! ?? I dove deep into the murky waters of conference swag and find myself drowning in the depths of mugs, tote bags, and hand sanitizer. I'm reaching for the surface to catch my breath but continue to get drug down by too-expensive JBL speakers, too-cheap pens, and a $100 per person notebook that would surely get thrown in a drawer upon arriving home. I'm dying to know from the masses on LinkedIn, my trusted connections and their trusted connections - ? What item(s) you've received at a conference still get used? ?? What made you stop and go "oh, cool!" and actually get packed in your carry on to head home? ?? What found the trash can immediately? Stop groaning - yes, I know this wins the award for the most asked question of all time. #PyConUS Pro Tips: - stay near the conference venue, within walking distance (15 minutes max) - watch the talks and keynotes - but you don't have to watch ALL the talks. Take breaks - meet new people at hallway track, join new table at breakfast/lunch, introduce yourself - prepare an"elevator pitch" about yourself - don't need to pack too many shirts.
