The innovative Little Bear Recharge Enhancement Project will bolster Barton Springs flow. Once complete, this project will divert water from south Austin's Little Bear Creek in times of high flow and push it to a nearby former quarry. How can a quarry relate to groundwater and recharge? The recent completion of the Rockfall Mitigation Project along US 340 in West Virginia marks a significant milestone in enhancing safety and connectivity in the region. Led by Access Limited, a prominent rockfall mitigation firm, and Triton Construction Inc., the project was finished nearly two weeks ahead of schedule despite expanded scope requirements. Activities encompassed stabilizing the corridor through rock slope scaling, hazard removal, and rock bolting, along with repairing damaged pavement and guardrails. Additional measures like draped and pinned mesh, ground-level rockfall barriers, and on-slope attenuator systems were installed to minimize future rockfall risks. With the area's historical importance and high traffic volume, the project aimed to ensure safe passage for the estimated 24,500 daily vehicles, including commuters and tourists. Access Limited Construction, now a part of GeoStabilization International?, showcased its expertise and commitment to safety, completing the project efficiently while contributing to reduced carbon emissions from diverted traffic. #rockfallmitigation #geology #geotechnical #geotechnicalengineering

The ghost bridge that reappeared after the draining of a reservoir in New Jersey is a testament to the fact that quality engineering and construction, combined with the right materials, can last hundreds of years. This saves time and money for decades. Compare that to our current band-aid approach, where low-bid projects, if we’re lucky, last 5–10 years.
