Cal Wellness recognizes the profound importance of the Surgeon General Vivek Murthy's decision to take a #publichealth approach to #gunviolence prevention and call for increased #research funding to help us better understand and prevent gun violence in communities across California and the U.S., including community violence interventions that use evidence-informed strategies to reduce violence. We applaud this progress and urge decisionmakers to partner with people whose lives are affected by gun violence — and to surface solutions and support policies that will save lives.?During this Gun Violence Prevention Month, we celebrate this especially momentous decision. Cal Wellness will continue to work with innovative organizations such as Hope and Heal Fund, The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention, Urban Peace Institute, YouthAlive!, Black and Brown Collective, Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, Advance Peace, Brotherhood Unified for Independent Leadership Through Discipline (BUILD) Program, and others?to get closer to making it possible for everyone to live in safe, healthy communities free from gun violence. https://lnkd.in/gy8wQb-u

Democrat Policies enable these outcomes.
Chicago firefighters are criticizing the city for a shortage of ambulances and paramedics. They are organizing protests during the NASCAR street race and the DNC. As we've seen many times before, police times are not getting better either, and now, if you are having a heart attack, you might be waiting too. As crime increases, the need for emergency services increases. In April, the March on the DNC coalition hosted a "working conference" where representatives from 78 activist organizations and they plan to protest "with or without permits." The Chicago police department's resources are already running thin, and the fire department is sounding the alarm. Recently, the number of 10-1 calls seems higher than ever due to "silly" kids and fights with the "migrants" around shelters. (10-1 means an officer needs urgent help right away.) The DNC will be like a disorganized three-ring circus if all of these groups show up.

Veteran Housing Corp says that IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Consultant & Grants Professional Certified with Two Decades Successful Experience! A life committed to ministry.
Housing is the most basic of our rights in America…yet Local governments criminalize homelessness by making it illegal for people to sit, sleep, or rest in public spaces. Almost every state has at least one law that bans activities people experiencing homelessness engage in simply to survive. Laws that prohibit panhandling, loitering, living in vehicles, or sharing food and water in public spaces all discriminate against people experiencing homelessness, as authorities eject them from public spaces, confiscate and destroy their property, and transport them to mass shelters and jails. These practices threaten their health and well-being and, ultimately, their lives. It's a housing crises, hence the name chosen by the oldest all volunteer nonprofit in Texas dealing with issues surrounding ending & preventing homelessness HOUSE THE HOMELESS (an imperative). Thanks.
