Key Takeaways from "Deciphering Deductions" Session with Jeremy Isenberg, Luke Abbott, Michael Reich and Dwight Richmond Last week at the Summer Fancy Food Show, I had the opportunity to attend this highly insightful session. Here are my top 5 takeaways: 1. Strategic Preparation Be prepared to support your product in distribution. Understand the investments needed to grow sales and manage deductions effectively. Ensure pricing and margin strategies support long-term profitability. 2. Read Distributor Agreements Always read and fully understand distributor agreements. They contain key points that can impact deduction negotiations. 3. Negotiation Power Know that distributor agreements are (partly) negotiable. Leverage your understanding to negotiate better terms. 4. Open Discussions Deductions are a critical but often uncomfortable topic. Open conversations can lead to better solutions for all stakeholders. 5. Accurate Documentation Maintain a detailed paper trail of all agreements and proposed activities to support deduction claims. For Neolea, we have been committed to understand deductions since the very first moment we entered the US market, a little over 4 years ago. However, it's a big and sometimes complicated topic so this session was very insightful to add to our knowledge base.
