https://lnkd.in/g-TdPGsQ https://lnkd.in/gYZMK8M3 BLACK HISTORY MONTH POST! JAZY Z wins historical DR. DRE GLOBAL IMPACT AWARD 2024! The magnificent thing is that the award even exist; yet, the award is more than worthy since Dr. Dre definitely made a musical impact on the nation, and we all know that whatever sells in America is normally benchmarked by most of the world. Definitely, not ALL, but surely MOST! Plus, we do need to become more fair about awards analysis, etc., but it appears via “trial and error” that we humans overall are not exceptional at being fair in much of anything. Thus, it is a good thing Jay Z made that comment; yet, all we can do is work to get closer to perfection. NOTE: History was a second ago!

Black Man 101 Own Your Narrative One of the most important aspects of advancing our culture is having the ability to control our own narrative. Some people stumble when they introduce me to new people because they don't have a title. I am a cultural engineer. I build communities. I build brands. I build neighborhoods. I build what is impossible to most and turn it into possible. Other people's limitations are not my responsibility. I own my own media machine Young Black Entrepreneur Magazine. Over here, we can celebrate our culture unapologetically and without compromise. I don't need anyone to do anything for me that I can't do for myself. NobleSol Art Group POWERS EVERYTHING! Taking the long way to success isn't a bad thing when you are committed to excellence. It is impossible to compare me to others because I am an original 1 of 1. If I had to rely on mainstream media you all would not know about me. They only celebrate those who destroy us. They don't want you all knowing brothers like me, because you may get inspired. Then you might start focusing your energy on building your communities. Welcome to Phase 3! I am warmed up now. www.OkeebaTheMayor.com www.TheGlobalArtFair.com www.CharlestonCompass.com #BookofBalo #OkeebaTheMayor

We're living through some difficult times as a people. And I've a lot of frustration and complicated feelings about it, and not all of that frustration is for the usual suspects. Whenever I personally find myself going through something difficult, I don't focus on the ways other people need to change, I focus on me and the things I need to do to change because I don't have control over what other people do. Similarly, I feel that these moments present us, as Black people the opportunity to examine ourselves and consider what is the work that WE need to do in order to really live into a prosperous future. What is the work that WE need to do to overcome the trauma of generations of oppression, degradation and gaslighting? What are the patterns that WE need to break. The behaviors that WE need to foster. The values that WE need to make real. I can't control the chaos of this world. But I can work on me, while I continue to do my little part. This is an opportunity for us as a community to consider, what is our INTERNAL work to do...and get to it. From Chains to Links is THE place where we will have the hard conversations that are necessary for us to boldly engage the next chapter of our liberation story in this country. With my friend and brilliant co-host Ifeoma Ike, Esq. we delve into hard topics dealing with everything from "what does it mean to be quintessentially Black?" to how we advance collective economics in the Black community. Our amazing guests bring "the real" as we crack up, eye roll and at times hold back the tears in these family conversations that we absolutely need to have. Join Us. Cause if you don't tune in, you're just going to hear about it later. Sign up for the waitlist at the website below and subscribe to our Black Innovation Alliance YT channel where we'll be streaming the series. From Chains to Links officially launches on all of your favorite podcast platforms Juneteenth. ?? https://chainstolinks.com/

“Walking while Black restricts the experience of walking, renders inaccessible the classic romantic experience of walking alone.” -Garnette Cadogan, 2016 The mundane act of flaneuring has gained popularity in times of lockdown. For many, going for a walk was the main outlet to prevent oneself from going mad, being trapped in the same four walls day in and day out. But does everyone reap the benefits of walking and how, if at all, do peoples experiences differ? Specifically, how do Black people experience flaneuring? In the following work, Black people living in Europe speak about their experience with flaneuring and about public life in a predominantly white society.
