Concrete that is green. As a civil engineer I have had warranty issues where sometimes aggregates used and concrete somehow don’t like each other and break down. Other mixes made with reconstituted concrete have to be tested to ensure the reconstituted does not have chemicals that will breakdown the concrete. Normal concrete used mined granite. Granite is a natural resource that can be depleted. In addition the equipment used to mine granite produces a lot of CO2 —carbon monoxide. Hopefully in the future we can see how green concrete my possibly be used in the 3D print construction of modular building or bridge members that are starting to show up in the construction world.

Pursuing sustainability requires careful consideration of the materials used in the construction of buildings and other civil infrastructure. The term "sustainability" now refers to more than just the idea of recycling or reusing materials; rather, it now encompasses innovations and proactive, responsible decision-making processes that can strike a balance between the effects on the environment, economic growth, and social values. There is an urgent need to pursue sustainable practices throughout the civil engineering and construction industry for the well-being of our planet and the continued prosperity of society. Concrete has one of the highest initial environmental costs of all the building materials. In contrast to other materials like steel and wood, however, its strength, good workability, and recycling potential can offset this effect. Many researchers have looked for alternatives to traditional concrete in recent decades in an effort to lessen their negative effects on the environment and help the civil engineering industry move closer to attaining sustainability. With an emphasis on sustainable concrete, this article explores the advantages of incorporating graphene nanosheets into the concrete mixture. A few of the difficulties in implementing graphene in the manufacturing of concrete are also discussed.

In this study, we explored the potential of integrating **Recycled Concrete Aggregates (RCA)** into **composite slabs**, which are known for their superior strength, stiffness, and ease of installation compared to traditional reinforced concrete slabs.? ?? **Key Highlights:**?? - Testing of 12 slabs with span lengths of 2.4 m, 2.8 m, and 3.2 m.?? - Replacement levels of 0%, 30%, 50%, and 100%.?? - Four-point bending tests to assess load-bearing capacity and bond strength at the steel-concrete interface.?? - RCA enhances longitudinal shear strength, making it a promising material for sustainable construction without compromising structural performance.?
