To succeed in the music industry, it's crucial to understand the roles different professionals play. A music distributor handles distribution, while artist management and publicists create buzz and build the artist's brand. If you seek more views or plays, consider hiring a promotion specialist or promoting yourself. Remember, investments in studio time, beats, composition, and promotion are essential for success. In this industry, spending money wisely is key to generating revenue. Need advice? Feel free to ask! #MusicIndustryInsights #ArtistManagement #PromotionSpecialist

PROFESSIONAL SOUND TIPs: ???EVENT PLANNERS Festivals Concerts Annual Events Community Events When hiring a Sound Company with Sound Engineers, Sound Technicians, DJs, etc. in order to get the best sound services have someone that knows the technical language to get the Best Sound for your event. Ask what all services or amenities are available in a conversation before the contract is signed. A few examples: 1. Groups or Speakers that require lapel mics 2. Vocalists (Singers) require a different technical treatment that should be figured out during a mandatory sound check before the event. 3. Ask about professional lighting that is accessible and could be used for a better experience. 4. What kind of look do you want, a bare stage with branding behind you or perhaps a Black Box look with branding. FYI: A Sound Engineer is not the same as a DJ but a Sound Engineer can play music. A DJ is not a Sound Engineer and is not there to give you the best sound for performers, speakers etc. Analog Advice??Sound is Key

How crucial is the role of a music supervisor in film & TV? With the music industry facing layoffs, we're exploring various jobs within the industry and the skills required to secure a role. This week, we're delving into the role of a music supervisor. What does a music supervisor do? They curate the musical sound of a show. It's their job to weave existing source music and songs around the composer’s original material. This involves a complex, demanding process of obtaining clearance rights, and clear collaboration with the key creatives is vital. Sarah Bridge, the music supervisor for Netflix's "The Crown," faced intricate challenges in sculpting the show's musical identity. She said ‘Researching Diana's musical tastes was integral to capturing her character authentically’. The biggest challenge of music supervision often requires the individual to thread the needle between gut intuition and deliberation over what will constitute the perfect song. 3 Tips to excel as a Music Supervisor: 1?? Communication: Start conversations early to align on the project's musical vision. 2?? Collaboration: Work closely with fellow creatives to bring that vision to life. 3?? Strategic Thinking: Balance source and score music to enhance storytelling. Check out the Composer article in the comments to hear from music supervisor experts about the challenges and skills needed to land a role working on your favorite shows.

Want to Compose Music for a Film? A proud moment for me was attending the premiere of a film I had the honor of composing the music and designing the sound for. Seeing my name roll in the credits was surreal and made all those long hours of hard work totally worth it. If the music industry needs to be a creative industry that supports artists and has people in positions working with artists, some changes need to be made in how we, as creatives, allow the corporates to validate our place in the industry. There's a problem with the music industry nobody talks about much: Nearly every leading employer in the music industry doesn't focus music-related experience when it comes to hiring. We're in a world of multi-layered, impersonal, non-role-understanding hiring processes. This is easy: go look at 80% of new hires in major label companies in the past 5 years. I bet more of them have FTSE companies in their experience history than music companies. "2 years Marketing Manager at Victoria's Secret" has way more value to hiring managers than "5 years Marketing Manager at [Indie Label]". Let's be honest here: it's not creative, or music loving, people that destroyed the potential of the music industry. It's lazy, conveyor belt, corporate, sometimes politically agenda-driven, non-specific, non-focused, non-caring recruitment that doesn't actually think about what matters to the music industry. Corporate hiring processes are about conformity and obedient behaviour. That's the little devil that got itself into the music industry and turned it inside out. We were supposed to be the artists, the bohemians, the non-conformists, the change, the firestarters. Let's take our industry back. How? Boycott: - Overly demanding hiring processes - Being judged by a HR person with less experience with music-related work than you. - Applying for roles that seem few and far between when you know people are getting hired left-right-and-centre because of connections. Catch a wave. Feel inspired. Find a way to do your own thing in music without permission or jobs. Go work a regular job. Work on music all night and go into work tired. Do your own thing. Build your own portfolio or roster up. Life means more than giving these companies permission to define your place in the music industry. Do the work yourself. Give yourself permission. Be the music industry executive you think the industry needs, without having to do it for somebody else. ????
