The 1982 massacres of Sabra and Shatila, The blockade and bombardments of Gaza from 2007, And 17 failed peace talks. Three quarters of a century of brutality generated Oct 7th. It was a crime against humanity, But like Haiti, generated by oppression For which the oppressors – Israel, the US, the UK – bear responsibility. Zionism is an ideology. Without weapons it would be weak. So back to colonialism, and America. In 1986 Biden, the very same, said had Israel not existed America would have invented it. America’s power was built on slavery, Then transformed to fossil capitalism – Literally fuelled by coal, then oil. Oil is the driver of American power. Israel – an army with a country – its agent to control the region against Russia and China, The Israeli lobby is its political voice, It runs with the flow, it cuts with the grain. Hence its power. As Mandela said, “Our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians”, A deep truth for Jews, For a people who oppress another can never themselves be free. It’s not antisemitic to boycott Israel, It is our duty, We are two peoples with one future, From all of the river to all of the sea We shall all be free.

Professor Avi Shlaim a former Zionist “As a Jew I have the moral duty to stand up for the Palestinians. All Jews also have a moral duty to stand up by the Palestinians now.” I would like to make three observations: And that is.? 1.?????That Israel has obstructed every international effort at peace since 1967.??Israel has been diplomatically intransigent, and the Israeli occupation is the most prolonged and brutal occupation of modern times. 2.?????The second observation is about the Palestinians. They've been demonised. But when you look at the reality, Palestinian intransigence is a myth. First the PLO moderated its programme and signed the Oslo accord with Israel. Hamas was also an extremist movement with an extremist charter, but it won a fair and free election on June 19, 2006, and it was not allowed to govern by Israel and by Israel's western allies. So Hamas moderated its programme. Hamas offered Israel negotiations on a long-term truce. Hamas also accepted the Palestinian state along the pre 1967 borders. All these gestures were completely ignored by Israel, and Israel continued to use brute force to solve what is essentially a political problem. There is no military solution to this conflict. There can only be a political solution, but Israel frustrates it. 3.?????And my third observation is that the international community has singularly failed the Palestinian people. And the this is one of the most glaring cases of injustice in modern history, and the international community has been unable to do anything for the Palestinians. And more specifically, I blame America for the use of the veto to incapacitate and not enable the international community to protect the Palestinian people.? But now I take some hope from the fact that both the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice are looking at what Israel is doing and in due course they'll come up with their conclusions. I'm sure they would uphold the charges that Israel is committing genocide and then this would go to the Security Council and one can only hope that. America wouldn't use the veto again to defeat, to prevent once again the international community from doing its duty to the Palestinians. 4.?????And, if I may, offer one last reflection. Zionism, the establishment of the State of Israel, involved a monumental injustice to the Palestinians an injustice that is only being exacerbated over time and reaches its climax in Gaza today. And I as a jew I feel a moral duty to support to speak up for the Palestinian cause and I think that all Jews also have a moral duty to stand by the Palestinians in their hour of need. ???????????????????????????????????? https://lnkd.in/d9hM35MD

Block the barricade until Palestine is free. — It’s taken me awhile to “post” about this but I have been studying the conflict in Palestine for a long time (before it went viral) and integrating this work in my classroom irl. Plus, I often need time to slowly process pain in the world because that’s just how my neurodivergent brain works. With that said… Genocide is NOT complex. We must free Palestine. Jewish history IS complex. And, the U.S.A is co-opting Jewish diaspora trauma in the name of supporting U.S. imperialism and the colonial project that is the genocide of Palestine. It tokenizes Jewish people, pretends Judaism is a monolith, and posits that being pro Jewish liberation is the same as being a Zionist. It is not. This war is wrong. Active genocide of the Palestinian people is happening, and the Jewish people will never be free using Colonialist tools. Never again means never again to anyone, period. Free Palestine ??????
