Earlier this week, WSP President & CEO Paul C. Allen, alongside VP of Operations, Julia Hoskins, attended a special ceremony for the Nashville Business Journal's C-Suite Awards, celebrating our very own Heather Beckwith, Chief Operating Officer! Per the NBJ, "The new C-Suite Awards will shine a spotlight on those executives who support the region's CEOs. These influential senior managers are key decisionmakers in our business community and essential players in the health of our local economy. They each bring a wealth of experience and leadership skills to the table." The 2024 Nashville Business Journal C-Suite Award reviewed local businesses that were nominated through public nominations. Nominees were asked to submit completed questionnaires, which were reviewed and scored by an independent panel of judges. To be considered the company must be headquartered or have major operations in the 10-county Nashville area that includes Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties. Judges selected honorees based on outstanding performance for their companies as shown in the information submitted. Of all the companies considered, 25 were recognized and the honorees were announced on September 10, 2024. This ranking is not based in anyway on the individual's abilities in regard to providing investment advice or management. This ranking is not indicative of advisor's future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients' experience. An event for professionals working as marketers, sales leaders, business developers, customer engagement specialists and communicators ... across sectors such as accounting, legal, engineering, property and architecture, technology, management and more. It's the sector where her career began her professional career almost 3 decades ago (more on that later). She worked as a marketer in the professional services sector for a decade, starting in a mid-tier accounting firm before moving to the Big 4. ?? She would graphically design brochures and newsletters and then fax them out - because clients didn't have email yet. ?? She served on the WA Advisory Committee of ICON (then APSMA) in 2005 and 2006. Back then Liz thought that if she could make GST understandable for clients and B2B accountants, then she could take on any complex marketing challenge. Communicating complex concepts in simple, relatable terms has been a passion ever since, and it shaped her approach to leadership communication and coaching. How many CEOs don't trust their CMOs? How many CMOs don't trust their CEO? It's a real problem! Trust in the C-Suite overall is tricky. ?? Do you think CMO-CEO trust is a liability of the CMO job itself? Harder to prove the value? More diverse skills and responsibilities than any job in the C-Suite? Higher turnover with less time to have built trust...? Less time together than the CFO? I heard a fantastic Xapa webinar with Susan Wayne, founder/CEO of Changecast, on "How to Build and Maintain Trust." It applied as much to CMOs as anyone.
