Utilities need your help maximizing grid reliability. If you live in the Northeast and are considering planting trees near powerlines, consider one of these options.
Fall is a great time to plant. Eversource Energy arborists have released a fantastic new resource. Connecticut community leaders: feel free to take and share the link below to our native plant guide, which includes a free PDF download. These native plants play a critical role in supporting healthy ecosystems, and they are utility compatible. https://lnkd.in/egZJ9KNi

At our last project meeting in Linz at O? Energiesparverband all project partners from six european countries came together to exchange knowledge and experiences regarding #EnergyCommunities ?? Ingo Ball (WIP Renewable Energies) summarizes the discussion, focusing on the distinct national contexts for establishing and fostering energy communities, as outlined in the EU’s RED II directive. Partners delve into the opportunities, challenges, and unique characteristics present in each country. The insights gleaned from this Landscape Analysis will prove invaluable in shaping the development of ECTOs (Energy Community Transformation Offices). These ECTOs, envisioned as information hubs for local stakeholders, are slated for launch in target regions by autumn 2024. ? https://lnkd.in/d5kyCQ2u #RenewableEnergy??#LIFEprogramme #CleanEnergyEU #Germany LIFE Programme Project Partners:?Escan consultoría energética?Black Sea Energy Research Centrе?WIP Renewable Energies?Bürgerstiftung Energiewende Oberland?O? The IPA applauds the launch of a new community microgrid in Chicago! As one of the premier neighborhood-scale community microgrids in the nation, this new microgrid in the Bronzeville neighborhood marks a historic advancement in modern electric grid innovation. The microgrid, also known as the smart grid, is a dynamic system that operates independently or in conjunction with the traditional power grid. Microgrids are designed to be flexible and scalable. They can adapt to meet the energy needs of communities and critical infrastructures more reliably than a traditional power grid. Thanks to smart meters and other modernization efforts, microgrid systems allow energy suppliers and customers alike to be more responsive to service outages, weather volatility, and price fluctuations. Ultimately, modernizing the electric grid with new technology can provide greater reliability and resilience for a more sustainable energy future. To learn more about grid advancements, please see the IPA Power Hour webinar, The Modern Grid. https://lnkd.in/gHjqxfxH #ICC #Bronzeville #microgrid #smartgrid #innovation

Having a local presence is so important to build relationships with the communities where we develop.
Another milestone for WestWind Energy happened over the Easter long weekend. We opened our Warracknabeal (Yarriambiack Shire, Victoria) office doors to the community. It was a pleasure seeing so much local interest in our projects. https://lnkd.in/gUU4ZkQQ

We asked experts in clean energy development how they’re overcoming the barriers to bringing projects online – and the answers are clear: 1?? Engage Early – Reach out to stakeholders and communities from the start to build support. 2?? Build Trust – Involve local voices and listen to their concerns to foster stronger community connections. 3?? Use Robust, Visual Data – Tackle complex permitting and interconnection challenges with clear, robust data to avoid delays and setbacks. What would you say? ??Special thanks to: Stuart Pomeroy (Pave Power), James Robinson (Zenobē), Elias Hatem (Madison Energy Infrastructure), Ian Latimer (NYSERDA), Eamon Riley (Aypa Power), Corey Hindin (Radiant Power Partners), James McWalter (Paces), Gabrielle Stein (Paces), and Tony W. Affordable energy is a civil rights issue and must be addressed in our energy policy discussions. At the 2024 National Action Network Convention, Rev. Dr. Malcolm T. Byrd, Chief Operating Officer of the?National Action Network?and Senior Pastor at Mother AME Zion Church in Harlem, New York, shared that his church spends $5,000-$6,000 every 2 weeks on heating oil – taking away vital funds that could be devoted towards community development. We must ensure that America’s energy policies do not sacrifice reliability or affordability for families and businesses across the United States. Learn how natural gas, partnered with renewables, is a pragmatic energy strategy that can move all communities forward: https://lnkd.in/deTAjieA

Welcome to The Carbon League, #Chicago24Q3 Grid Mod Task Force! Here are the volunteers who will work together for on their first 90-day sprint to solve the critical obstacle from yesterday's AEG Chicago Stakeholder Challenge on Grid Modernization. Thank you for your leadership! Obstacle: "Regarding Grid Modernization, to achieve Chicagoland's Climate, Health and Equity, a critical obstacle to collectively overcome in 12 months is... the lack of visualization of key community and utility energy and infrastructure related plans to better understand how they influence each other and create alignment on grid mod needs." 90-Day Sprint: Write/submit DOE proposal in partnership with priority community (eg North Lawndale) using current coalitions efforts to map overlays to city, utility & state goals/interests. 12-Month Goal: Visualized Framework for Utility & Community Alignment on Grid Modernization Priorities and Needs, such as workforce development, to improve transparency and effective collaboration.
