?? Earlier this week, I attended the Spring 2024 CS Career Fair at my school. Overall, I would say it was a success. ?? Out of the 10 resumes I printed out, I was able to hand in at least 7 copies. Copies I spoke to: ? JPMorgan Chase & Co. ? AARP ? U.S. Department of Transportation ? Marriott International ? Cipher Tech Solutions, Inc. ? Jacobs Technology ? Appian Corporation ? Leidos ? Ignyte Group ? OPIS Tips to get the?most out of any career fair: 1?? Research the companies?and roles beforehand. 2?? Prepare an elevator pitch that summarizes your current?major, past experiences, and the?roles you're targeting. 3?? Follow up within 48 hours if not the day before via email or LinkedIn. 4?? Bring multiple copies of your resume. 5?? Take notes! Whether it's on your phone or on a sheet of paper, keep track of companies you've talked to, the company reps you spoke too, and the contact info of potential new connections! 6?? Dress according?to the dress code. 7?? Go early! The earlier?you go, the more time you get to talk to your most preferred companies. I wanted to take some time on one of the rejections I received?when applying to summer 2024 internships. This was one of the top companies I was aiming for. I went to the Lobby Day events, where I connected with their fellow engineers and recruiter, and also went to their booth during the fall 2024 CS Career Fair. When I received an invitation to interview, I was beyond ecstatic. I thought that since I had passed the resume screening, the only thing standing in my way was acing the interviews. And I was confident in my abilities, since I had practised countless DSA questions and have done many mock interviews. And this was just a phone?screening or coffee chat with one of their software?engineers to talk about my resume and past experiences, so nothing too technical. I thought the conversation went well and that we vibed with one another and sent my thank you notes to my recruiter and interviewer?afterwards. Nevertheless, I received?a rejection 2 days later. And my recruiter?said he couldn't provide any feedback. I stared at that message for a while, and to be frank, my heart kinda stopped. ? I researched?the company and my role. ? I made an effort to connect with fellow alumni from my school who work there. ? I spent hours beforehand brushing?up on DSA, doing the company tagged questions on LC. ? I have done many similar phone screenings or coffee chats in the past, where I've done very well. I just couldn't figure out what I did wrong at the time. ?? Regardless, it was an interviewing experience, an experience for me to practice interviewing with not only different companies but also with different people. ?? Companies are different, and so are people. ?? Companies look for different traits in candidates, and so do their interviews. ?? There may be some factors out of our control, and we can only control what we can control. ? My Verdict ? Don't take rejection personally. Treat each as a learning experience, and let rejections make you more resilient, not vulnerable. The more experience you have interviewing with different companies and people, the more prepared you'll be in the future when interviewing with more companies. Business That Hire Indigenous can Benefit immensely. Having Indigenous that have FNHA(First Nations Health Authority), they can Juggle or combine Company Insurance(Sun Life, Pacific Blue Cross etc,,,) with FNHA combined can insure proper Aduquate Mental/Physical care. Also combined they usually would not have to pay out of pocket, for adequate care. Thusly research needs to be made either by Employee and or Individual. Both sites have somewhat user Friendly websites. But some people struggle with online applications and sometimes need support. Thankfully Insurances have Toll Free Numbers for Assistance. Some individuals struggle with Pride as well and need to know that asking for Help is Okay.
