In doing so, EQOS Energie is not only realising the largest individual contract to date for its Railway Technology business unit in Austria, but is also making an important contribution to climate-neutral #mobility: After the completion of the #electrification of the Mattigtalbahn, travellers on the route will be fully mobile with green traction current – a decisive step towards sustainable regional transport. ? This Thursday, DSO Entity hosted the workshop ‘PCIs for DSOs – good practices and potential barriers’, with the participation of DG ENER, E.ON and the support of CEDEC- European Federation of Local & Regional Energy Companies, E.DSO, Eurelectric and GEODE - The voice of local energy distributors across Europe.? ? The workshop tackled some issues pointed out in the #GridActionPlan: the lack of information about funding opportunities for DSOs and the scarce visibility of the EU-funding programs in this field.? ? ??The event has been an occasion for DSO Entity’s members & stakeholders to learn about the European Commission’s approach to #PCIprojects.?? ? Here the three main takeaways of the workshop:? ?? 1???? The EU flagships infrastructure projects receive high political awareness, which results in access to special financing sources such as the #ConnectingEuropeFacility (CEF), among other advantages.? ?? 2?? #CEFs are not the only European funding sources. Indeed, some projects could benefit from other #EuropeanFunding programs.? ? 3???? #DSOs applying for PCI status should ensure their projects meet the criteria and build a unified team within their consortium.? ?? Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to hear about the #GabretaProject, a successful and concrete #PCI and #CEF funded project aimed at accelerating the #digitisation of the #distributiongrid by fostering the cross-border cooperation between Germany and the Czech Republic.? ? We are delighted to announce that Enaon EDA, a subsidiary of Enaon, and the Municipality of Lamia have signed the contracts for the connection of nine municipal buildings to the natural gas distribution network in Lamia, ensuring multiple benefits for the local community and the environment. This important cooperation concerns the energy upgrading of seven schools of primary and secondary education and two Centres for the Open Protection of the Elderly of the city, which will gain access to a cleaner and more affordable form of energy. By transitioning to natural gas, they will not only rationalize energy costs but also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. ?? KTP project video update ?? I’m delighted to share an update on our KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) project with the brilliant team at the University of Glasgow. Over the past two years, we've been working on delivering NetZero for our estate. Our KTP associate, Dr Sonam Norbu, with guidance from Prof David Flynn and Dr Benoit Couraud, has led the creation of a dynamic sensor landscape across multiple buildings on our estate. This project generates real-time data that is starting to inform our team's decisions and enable us to test interventions in real-time. Together this approach is helping us reduce our carbon footprint and prepare for a local heat network. This project has been transformational in building our case for a heritage-led transition to NetZero, it has also helped foster a culture of innovation, evidence-based action and curiosity within The Crichton Trust team. ? DESFA is a key partner in two pivotal projects included by the European Commission in the final list of #PCIs (Projects of Common Interest) for the #EU. These projects - the #HydrogenInterconnector between Greece and Bulgaria and the #CCShub in Greece under the Prinos umbrella PCI initiative - have been recognized as critical components in advancing the ambitious energy and climate goals of the European Green Deal. ?? ??? Under the "Hydrogen Interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria," DESFA is leading the development of a dedicated 540km #hydrogenpipeline, designed exclusively for transmitting pure #hydrogen from southern Greece to the interconnection point with #Bulgaria, where a similar project will be developed by Bulgartransgaz. The project forms the cornerstone of Greece's emerging #hydrogenbackbone, driving the #energytransition forward while positioning Greece as a pivotal #cleanenergycorridor to Europe. ?? ??? DESFA will also develop a #CCS hub in Greece as part of the #Prinos umbrella PCI project, promoted together with Energean. This initiative aims to create the first commercial-scale #CO2storagehub in the #Mediterranean, allowing offshore storage of #emissions from Greece (via both pipeline and ships) and from #Bulgaria, #Hungary, #Cyprus, #Italy, and #Slovenia (via ships) at the Prinos field. DESFA’s role in the project includes developing a dedicated #CO2pipeline to aggregate emissions from major emitters in Attica and Viotia and liquefying them in #Revithoussa leveraging the cold energy of #LNG.?This integrated CCS logistics chain will significantly contribute to enabling #emissionreduction and #decarbonization efforts in Greece and the EU.??
