INCLEMENT WEATHER? ?? We often get the question of what happens in the event of inclement weather? And what a perfect question to address for those stormy summer days! In an instance where inclement weather is on the horizon for the day of your pool service: MAINTENANCE? Our maintenance team will always strive to make it to your pool, rain or shine. There are specific circumstances such as thunderstorms, torrential downpours, and high wind speeds that will make it impossible for our team to complete the job safely and correctly. SERVICE? For the safety of our team members, our service team will not come out in inclement weather of any kind. This is because they often work with electrical wiring or plumbing, which cannot be done in the rain. ? ? ? In the event of inclement weather, and we are unable to service the pool and/or equipment to our standards: ??? Any pool on a scheduled maintenance visit will with either be rescheduled for later in the week, or your visit will be performed the following week. ??? We know time is of the essence with service work, so any pool scheduled for a service visit will be rescheduled to the next available date when weather is permitting. #sodacity #sodacitypools #midlands #upstate #lowcountry #swimmingpoolservice #swimmingpools #poolcleaner #poolcleaning #poolmaintenance #poolservice #poolcleaningservice #swimmingpoolmaintenance #swimmingpoolcleaningservice #swimmingpoolcleaners #residentialpools #commercialpools #jandy #pentair #hayward #smallbusiness #familyownedbusiness

?? Prepare for the Arctic Blast This Week! ?? With dangerously low temperatures heading our way, it’s important to take steps to protect your home and avoid costly damage from freezing pipes. These extreme conditions could cause major problems, especially for homes already experiencing water supply issues. ?? Pipe Protection Tips: ??If your home has a history of freezing pipes, leave at least one sink running at a steady stream (not just a drip) during the overnight hours when temperatures are at their lowest. Moving water is less likely to freeze and can keep pipes safe by introducing fresh 50° water into vulnerable sections. ??Check crawl space and basement access points: Make sure all windows, doors, and vents are closed and sealed to keep cold air out and protect exposed pipes. ??Open cabinet doors under sinks in kitchens and bathrooms to allow warm air to circulate around the pipes. ??? Additional Precautions: ??Protect outdoor spigots by removing hoses and covering them with insulating materials. ??Keep your home’s thermostat at a consistent temperature, even if you’re away. ??Ensure everyone in your household knows where the main water shutoff valve is located in case of an emergency. Taking these proactive steps can prevent the inconvenience of losing water, costly plumbing repairs, and potential water damage. If you’ve experienced freezing pipes in the past, act now to safeguard your home before the Arctic Blast arrives. Stay safe and warm! ????♂?Sean O’Hearn ?? 519-564-2235 ????♀? Please make sure to take the necessary precautions to protect your family and home with Helene brewing in the Gulf of Mexico. ?? ?? ??????? This includes preparing your HVAC system for extreme weather conditions. 1) Cool your home down as low as possible before the storm arrives in case of a loss of power. 2) Turn off breakers to your HVAC unit should you lose power. Once power has been restored, turn your breakers back on. *Please note that Sun Kool is not able to perform a maintenance or service for repairs if you do not have power!* 3) Close all window treatments to prevent the sun's rays from making your home heat back up. This will prevent any damage that could be caused by high winds or flying debris. 4) Trim all landscaping around the unit and remove any items that could potentially cause damage to the system. And no need to worry…..If needed, you can schedule maintenance after the storm to make sure that all your components are functioning correctly! ?? ??: 352-330-1067

Winter is Coming. Water Damage from Frozen Pipes? An arctic blast of cold temperatures is expected to affect a large part of the country this coming week and could drop temperatures below freezing for several days. Here is some information that can help prevent water damage from frozen pipes and keep your customers safe. Tips to Help Prevent Frozen Pipes? ?Disconnect any hoses from exterior faucets.?Even frost proof faucets/sillcocks require that the hose to be disconnected in freezing weather to allow residual water to drain.? ?If provided, close inside valves supplying water to outdoor faucets and hookups. Open outdoor faucets to allow residual water to drain. Be sure to keep them open during the cold weather months, while the water supply is turned off.? ?Keep garage doors closed to help protect water pipes located in the?garage.? ?Open the doors on cabinets where plumbing is located. This can help allow warmer air to circulate around the?pipes.? ?For pipes that are at risk of freezing (both hot and cold water pipes), let water drip from?faucets.? ?Keep the heat in your home set at a minimum of 55 degrees Fahrenheit.? ?Identify areas that have experienced freeze issues in past winter storms and consult with a plumber or mechanical contractor to address and help protect those vulnerable areas ahead of the cold weather. What to Do if You Have a Frozen Pipe? ?Locate and close the main water shutoff valve as soon as possible and before temperatures rise above freezing.? ?Inspect pipes for damage, including those in attics and crawl spaces, where it is safe to do so.? ?As temperatures increase above freezing, watch and listen for signs of water?leaks.? ?If a pipe is leaking, do not turn on the water. Open all faucets including those outside to drain remaining water from pipes and call a licensed plumber for?repairs.? ?If no leaks are detected, turn water back on slowly. Continue to check for leaks before turning water on completely.??Never use torches or heat guns to facilitate thawing as these can create fire?hazards. Tips provided from my friends at Travelers.

I'm sure you've seen the crazy rainfall we had in Southern Ontario recently. It got me thinking about how we can be better prepared for the next big storm. I’ve put together a list of things we should do to keep our homes safe so we can all have better peace of mind for next time: ?????????????? ?????? ?????????? ?????????????? ?????? ????????????????????: We need to make sure they’re free from debris so the water can flow away from the house properly. ?????????? ?????? ??????????: Go over the roof, windows, and doors to spot any leaks and fix them before they get worse. ?????????????? ???????? ?????????? ?????? ?? ???????????? ??????????: If you don’t have one yet, it might be worth putting a sump pump in the basement and making sure it’s in good working order. Adding a backup valve may save you many headaches too. ?????????????? ???????????????????? ??????????????: Think about raising any electrical appliances, switches, and outlets in the basement to avoid water damage. ???????? ???????????????????? ????????????: Sealing up any cracks in the foundation can help prevent water from seeping in. Just some thoughts to make sure we’re ready for whatever Mother Nature throws our way next time. Questions on these tips? Send me a DM. #ontario #ontariostorm #insurance #safety ??

With the drop in temperatures and power outages remaining a concern in across Western North Carolina, residents are urged not to use outdoor grills, generators and heating devices indoors as the results can be deadly. “Devices intended for outdoor use can give off potentially deadly carbon monoxide gas if used indoors where the invisible, odorless fumes can build up and lead to poisoning,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “We don’t want to see the tragedy of this hurricane compounded, so we are urging residents to not take outdoor devices such as portable heaters, barbecue grills and generators indoors for a heat source or use these appliances in garages. It is not worth the risk.” Safety tips to keep in mind include: Always use charcoal or gas grills outdoors. Never run a gas-powered generator indoors or close to windows, doors or vent openings. Do not run a vehicle or other fueled engines or motors indoors, even with garage doors open. Do not store, place or use a propane cylinder indoors or an enclosed area such a basement, garage, shed or tent. Signs of carbon monoxide poisoning can include dizziness, light headedness, nausea, headaches and shortness of breath. High level of exposure to carbon monoxide can be fatal. #WNCStrong #NCAgriculture #ncwx #HeleneReliefEfforts #Helene2024
