Job hunting's been rough. So rough, yesterday I found myself upselling coffee creamer at the grocery store. Like, full-on consultative selling. This poor woman was agonizing over two creamer flavors. I broke it down for her: buying two small containers was CHEAPER than one large! (By a whopping 37 cents. Every penny counts on this economy, right?) Then I really went off the rails. I showed her ALL SIX flavors. "Think of it," I said, channeling my inner sales guru, "a new flavor every day! Enrich your life! Expand your creamer horizons!" She balked at the sheer volume of creamer. Classic objection. I countered with the "it's basically preservatives anyway, so it'll last forever" line (hey, gotta overcome those objections!). Plus, smaller containers meant less commitment if she hated a flavor. Smart, right? I even threw in a personal guarantee (because why not?): "Try my favorite, Italian Sweet Cream. If you hate it, next time you see me, I'll give you your $2.53 back." (I was really committed to this sale). She walked out with FOUR flavors. FOUR! I'm pretty sure I just closed the biggest creamer deal of the week. Maybe of the month. Moral of the story? I need a sales job. Like, yesterday.
