The Cold Call "in person"...best practices! In short, every cold call presents its own unique experience and its through experience this exercise develops. Rather than deep dive into dated terminology, here are a few tips and practices applied as a supplier, distributor, importer.... Research the account - Is there a website, what is the philosophy or mission statement, are they active on social media channels, is there community involvement, do they participate in charitable contributions....does the account have regular business Prepare - Compile all notes from research, build a mach proposal of items aligning with account focus, make note of owners or GM listed on site. Be Brief, Be Friendly - Time to visit the account, ask whoever greets you their name, ask for the owner or general manager, make note of all points of contact. Reference why the account stands out, what facet of the account appeals to you. The menu is amazing, the "dish" is what I'll be ordering when next in. Present mach proposal with oz pour or bottle costs. with business card. Ask minimal questions - What day is available in the coming week for a tasting, how often can I assist in staff training, when is the next menu change. Listen - note all information shared to develop key insights to next presentation. Have a sample to leave behind to taste with the item referenced earlier. Follow Up - Send a note within 24 hours with a brief recap of the conversation and available dates for a sit down review/tasting with highlighted items of PDF or online catalog. Follow Up - Stop in the next week to say hello, inquire if the wine worked well with the dish, leave behind another sample. If active on Social Media, tag the account in a post and showcase activity online with added free online marketing resource. Follow Up - Send a note within 24 hours with a brief recap of the two wines with available days for a staff training. Believe it or not, there are downsides to having a ridiculously creative baker as a husband (other than the obvious ?? ??)... We change our brownie/ blondie flavours every month to reflect the seasons and if I'm perfectly honest with you, I don't think my husband could do this job without this freedom. Working with new ideas and flavours is what keeps his passion alive (particularly when he's leading a team that are creating thousands of units of one flavour per day). This does raise a HUGE problem from a marketing perspective as it would be a false economy for any business to get professional photographs of every product. Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe you need an excellent selection of photographs for an e-commerce website, but social media these days requires almost another direction entirely of content. I have an iPhone SE and I don't know how to use my digital SLR ??. So what I have spent a lot of time doing over the summer is studying images of food photography and attempting my best shot at refreshing our social media assets for Q4. We have been working on a brand refresh for quite some time and I'm really keen to incorporate more vibrant colours into our palette. So whilst we nail the direction we want to take the brand in, expect to see more content like the video below which was filmed on a whim yesterday whilst the sun was shining. Does LinkedIn suppress "scheduled posts"? I recently discovered the "Schedule for Later" option on LinkedIn and thought I'd give it a try. I only scheduled a couple posts(https://lnkd.in/ecYfxZXq and https://lnkd.in/ejSMh3J2), but each has significantly less impressions (-84%), Reactions (-97%), and comments (-66%). Was the scheduled content simply uninspiring and would have underperformed anyway? Or does LinkedIn want to incentivize more real-time posting which may be more timely, on-trend, etc? #scheduledposts #linkedinposts #posting
What are the economics of event catering? ?? I recently attended networking event which was clearly oversubscribed. I heard the host nervously whisper to a colleague, "we budgeted for 100 people and there must be 300 here now." She was correct - there were many more attendees than expected, but the catering was quite literally overflowing despite the high numbers. ? The buffet was maxed out - heaps of meat, veggies, appetizers, and desserts. Attendees seemed more enamored with the open bar. Then suddenly, servers removed all the catered food, even though the trays were completely full. The food was destined for the trash, as after a meal has been presented to guests it can never be served again. Why waste all that food? It had been prepared, plated, served, and untouched… Was removing the catering meant to "punish" the hosts for having more guests than anticipated? It was clearly a signal for attendees to vacate, but I struggle to understand the motivation behind pulling the catering. I'm certain this was not an isolated event. Perhaps an opportunity for dynamic event products and pricing, or at a minimum food donation? #catering #events #foodwaste

There's a niche sector in cannabis that I think deserves some more attention. Cannabis chefs. But even better? Black, Queer, local cannabis chefs. Today, we visist our first values-based brand, Rooted Buds, on the north side of St. Louis - in??Ferguson, Missouri. I didn't expect a sermon when I walked into 18 North Church Street. But when I broke bread there, my senses were singing and my soul was dancing. The love through which this food was made, alive in every bite. Is that dramatic? Yes. But is there a better way to describe what it feels like to taste food made with such intention? You'll have to try it to find out. My 3-course infused meal started with this delicious butternut squash soup. But it wasn't just the subtle notes of autumn wrapped into every bite that made the experience so exciting. Chef Snoop and their partner Denise form the duo Rooted Buds. They create highly inspired soul foods infused with Missouri's best green.
