Please be aware: We just got this scam email, purporting to be from QuickBooks Payments. It looked pretty legit, actually, complete with the QBO copyright, address, and even logos, which is the scariest part. However, if you look closer, you will see it is copyright 2023, not 2024, so that is one red flag clue. The most confident way to know whether it was from QuickBooks is to look at the detail of the "sender" email address. In this case, it is coming from a?rumercosmetics. com?email address, not a QB email address. Sneaky sneaky sneaky. Please be aware that things like this are happening all the time. Never ever click on links in emails without verifying the email is from who it actually says it is. If it is telling you something that doesn't make sense, or seems off, follow your gut and do some more investigating before you assume it is real. This is just one example that happened to us a few minutes ago. These come in all the time from people pretending to be CRA, or Docusign, or Better Business Bureau, or any number of possibilties. When we launched Time’s Up, AVN’s pricing software, in 1998 the default prices were, naturally, set at 1998 levels, ie. prices for an accountancy practice based in South Yorkshire at that time. Some of our members felt they couldn’t possibly charge that much and adjusted them to more a ‘realistic’ level. ? 15 years later we were still getting the same reaction.
