International Self-Care Day falls on July?24th.?Self-care means taking the time to do things that help you to live well. Focusing on self-care can help you manage stress, increase your energy, and even lower your risk of developing illnesses. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines self-care?as individuals' and communities' efforts to promote and/or maintain their overall health while preventing disease and coping with disability and illness. How many people do you know push extra hard to meet deadlines, prepare for upcoming events, or cover additional shifts? Are you one of them? Some bursts of stress may be beneficial?to your brain and body. But when stress becomes prolonged and overwhelming, it can negatively affect your health and well-being. Instead of pushing the limits, it’s vital to pause. We all need some downtime to recover and recharge.??Elite athletes?have shown that rest periods are essential to performing at their best, and the same applies to to our lives. Taking breaks can bring a wave of relief to our overall well-being. When we take a?moment to pause, we break the cycle that often leads to feeling overwhelmed. We can restore our mental and physical health by stepping away from demanding situations. This pause can lead to clearer thinking and increased creativity, enhancing our productivity and improving our relationships with others. Taking time to pause can be powerful. So, take some time to focus on what is important to you, whether it’s a run outside, a meditation session, or talking with a good friend.?

July 24th is International Self-Care Day, but we believe that you should make time for self-care every day! So CraveHRO is observing International Self-Care Week. This is a reminder to prioritize your mental and physical well-being and make self-care a part of your daily routine. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of work and daily life, but taking care of yourself is essential to your overall health and happiness. Self-care can take many forms, whether it's taking a break to stretch, going for a walk, or simply taking a few deep breaths. Whatever form it takes, make sure to take a few minutes each day to prioritize your well-being. As a reminder of the importance of self-care: "Self-care is not selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel." - Eleanor Brown We encourage you to take some time this week to focus on you. Be sure to use this time, whether it’s 5 minutes, an hour, or you take a whole day to focus on your well-being, in a way that serves your needs. Do what fills your cup! If you have any questions or would like some tips or information about benefits and perks that might help with your self-care initiatives, please feel free to reach out!

?? Friend of The Pod Announcement ???? Today's guest is Tammi Miller - a Certified Practising Counsellor registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. She works with people to improve mental wellbeing, improve health literacy and looks to facilitate a path towards happier, healthier and more mindful ways of living. I dare say a lot of us could benefit from this type of work. I've wanted to get Tammi on the show for a few months, so when the chance came up after reading her book Paperback Therapy I jumped at it. It's reasonable to expect that many of us can struggle with our relationship to work when so much of the news and information we're exposed to is doomish and dread-inducing. Working in the fields of sustainability, climate action and social impact is exhausting and painful, and burnout is common. I have certainly struggled with maintaining my stability and wellbeing over the years, and it's felt shaky again the past few months working solely in the science and impacts of a changed and changing climate. Tammi is on the show to chat about identity, self worth, work addiction, meaning, the pursuit of it all and the perils of the pursuit of it all. Doing the inner work is essential I believe to all of us, helping to reveal with another what we cannot see for whatever reason, to identify new insights and give strength for an evolution of our existence to help align our meaning and dreams with the actions we can take every day, every moment. Get it where you get your pods (search: finding nature). Subscribe, rate & share ????

Dear Health Psychology Clinic community! I would like to extend warm Christmas greetings ???? Christmas can be a time of joy, reflection, and connection, but it also presents unique challenges, especially for those managing health issues, both mental and physical. This year, let’s consider how to approach the holiday with strategies that support our comprehensive well-being. This includes... ?? Balanced indulgence Enjoy the festive treats and feasts while being mindful of your body's needs. Balance indulgence with nutritious choices that support your health. ?? The holiday season can be hectic. Remember to carve out time for relaxation and quiet reflection to manage stress levels effectively. ?? Connection Social interactions are a cornerstone of the festive season, but approach them in ways that fit your comfort and health needs. Virtual gatherings can also be a part of your celebration if physical participation is challenging. & Furthermore, remember that the holidays, while festive, can also amplify or trigger feelings of loneliness or stress, particularly if you are someone with a chronic illness or separated from family. So, if you are spending Christmas alone, make sure to connect virtually with those you care about, or if you know someone who is spending it solo, make sure to reach out. Merry Christmas to all, and may this festive season bring you joy, peace, and renewed health. Let’s carry the spirit of care and compassion into the new year, ensuring a healthier future for ourselves and our communities. #healthpsychology #healthpsychologist #healthpsychologylondon #therapylondon #therapistlondon #healthpsychologistuk #chronicillness #chronichealthconditions #stress #burnout

International Men’s Health Week… June 10th-16th is International Men’s Health Week… did you know there was such a thing?? I didn’t and I should.? As men, historically, we have been terrible about talking about our physical and mental health, and yet it is so important.? International Men’s Health Week typically occurs in the run up to Father’s Day.? This year, for me, Father’s Day is going to be really hard.? My father passed away a little over two weeks ago and if I’m being honest, I am sort of dreading Father’s Day this year.? So, let’s talk about why this week is important.? This week is a great reminder that it’s ok to spend time focusing on wellbeing, to help one another make decisions about our health, lifestyle and if applicable seek medical advice. * Talk about your wellbeing, share your story * Enjoy some physical exercise * Encourage the men you know to talk more Early morning rides or runs are what I turn to in order to improve my Mental Health. Lastly, if anyone in my network reads this and wants to chat, I will make time for you. Thanks for reading ?? #mentalhealth #internationalmenshealthweek

This chat with Nathan around finding what matters to you when you strip away your job title, relationship status, and other external factors... Wow, it was cup-filling! We go deep into what makes identity, how to manage external triggers, how to be vulnerable when it matters (and not when it doesn't), and the importance of 'doing the work'. ???: Nathan Robertson-Ball for Finding Nature ??: Me for BARE Therapy #FindingNature?#PaperbackTherapy?#MentalHealth?#PodcastInterview

Throughout the month of May, the EOR JEDI Committee (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) has shared regular Mental Health Moments and activities for #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. This week, the Mental Health Moment focused on Caregiving. Many staff at EOR are caregivers or know someone else who is in that role. Caregiving can be extremely rewarding, but it can also come with physical and emotional demands. Here are some tips from the EOR JEDI Committee (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) on coping with Caregiver Stress: ?? Take care of your own health – eat regular meals, try to get sleep, make necessary appointments. ????♀? Ask for and accept help. ?? Listen to music or meditate. ??♀? Engage in physical activity – gardening, dancing, exercise, etc. ?? Set achievable goals. ?? Connect with resources. ?? Join a support group – in person, or online. ?? Stay connected socially. ?????? Allow yourself time to pursue a hobby.
