?? In a recent survey by Slack, nearly 90% of employees desired better workplace transparency, while almost 85% wanted to be connected with their remote colleagues. We at PowerCred address these needs and foster community and belonging with our monthly Town-hall or All-hands meetings. It's where we come together to celebrate our team’s achievements, share insights and discuss the next few steps for the future. ?? These meetings more than anything have helped us to enhance transparency and promote a cohesive company culture. ?? This month, we celebrated the addition of new clients, introduced new team members, shared insights, and discussed our vision for a future of simplified data management. I love working remotely. I have an office at home that I’m in before my neighbors wake. I watch the sun rise over the mountains. I can quickly and easily do anything in my ranch home, restroom, snack, delivery. I control the temperature, aromas, sounds. I am the master of this operation and it is efficient! This week however I’m reminded how important it is to see your team in person. 2 day onsite SKO and I can’t appreciate the gathering enough. I get to physically see the people I collaborate with daily from so many departments. Risk, pricing, marketing, enablement, product, all my colleagues. It is fantastic and should happen each year for most remote workers who may be an IC but are part of a team. The interactions are invaluable and I cannot describe the energy that comes from gathering in person. I’m on team “balance and what works best for employees to perform most optimally.” My preference is semi-annual or quarterly depending on the time of the meetings. This is personal preference and subjective. But it works for me and I can’t wait to see what the frequency of team gatherings are in my next adventure. It’s new but old. Different yet familiar. My division at Ally is joining Synchrony as a new part of their POS lending team and it is challenging to relay the excitement that I and my teammates have. Cheers to this new chapter coming 3/1. As a remote-first team, finding ways to stay connected can be a real challenge! In our team’s regular 'Co-lab' session today (a time where we chat about anything that’s on our minds), we discussed connection. It’s fair to say that as a team we connect fairly frequently and we have great chats - whether it’s about the work, reflecting on how we’re going or the messages back and forth on Slack. But, many of us are feeling a lack of social connection - for different reasons. Personally, with working from home and a recent injury keeping me away from the gym, my chances to connect with people in real life have shrunk. (Although, my dog Brady makes a great work-from-home buddy!) So we talked about trialling a few things to enhance connection. First up, a virtual water cooler—a space where anyone can pop in to chat about weekend plans, binge-worthy shows, or anything on their mind. We love an experiment so let’s see how this goes in improving our connection. How does your team stay connected? I'd love to hear what’s worked for you!
