Aircraft carriers are pivotal to our national defense, providing unmatched power projection. The 2024 milestone of having 8 of the Navy’s 11 aircraft carriers forward-deployed around the globe underscores their critical importance in maintaining global security and readiness. To sustain this capability, we must maintain a steady and robust demand signal to support the industrial base, ensuring the construction of future carriers remains a top priority. A strong industrial base is essential to delivering innovative solutions that protect and empower the U.S. fleet.

Six years ago today, the Navy awarded a single contract to purchase its next two aircraft carriers, CVN 80/81. Approved by President Trump and strong Congressional advocates, this two-carrier buy has been critical to the American industrial base, injecting stability into more than 2,000 shipbuilding companies across the U.S., while saving American taxpayers billions through smart business practices.

Raytheon will utilize its facility in Fort Wayne, among others, to complete a $590 million production contract from the U.S. Navy. The contract calls for the production of the company’s Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band system. https://ow.ly/XgHR50Us681

Rapid acquisition of weapon systems is making sustainment more challenging. Interesting article that showcases what Raytheon is going to be offering. It makes me wonder what acquisition contracts of the future will look like. How much technical data will a company release to the military maintenance provider if they are offer package deals for sustainment? Additionally, what transparency will the military system owner have with regard to obselesence issues? Will this process drive the acquisition and life-cycle timelines? Thought provoking...

CCC is pleased to announce that it was awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract worth over $80 million from the United States Department of Defense (U.S. DoD) for engine repair services by StandardAero Under CCC’s contract, StandardAero will repair 501-K34 Turbine Engines used by the U.S. Navy surface fleet.
