I want to thank the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) Chemical Recycling Committee for the opportunity to discuss how pyrolysis-based #advancedrecycling can divert hard-to-recycle plastics from landfill and create new materials that are then used to produce virgin-quality plastic for sensitive food, pharmaceutical and medical packaging applications. Together with the technical challenges of scaling up from pilot or commercial demonstration stage to fully commercial operations and attracting investments, secured access to a sufficient volume of plastic waste feedstock of the correct specification is critical for the advancement of recycling, both mechanical and chemical. Waste is increasingly evolving into a valuable resource, and new models of accessing and managing it are developing, with new value chain partnerships being forged.
