The threat of cyber effects against our critical infrastructure continues to grow. As Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Wray and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly have repeatedly highlighted, China and Russia are targeting our critical infrastructure operational technology (OT) not only to impact our military readiness, but also to target the American people's daily lives and create chaos. Our current approaches to defending OT are necessary, but insufficient to the task of repelling determined adversaries from impacting people's lives. At MITRE we are working to build tools and capabilities to help solve this problem in a scalable way. Capabilities like MITRE Caldera? for OT that can help asset owners and operators of critical infrastructure test their systems against an emulated Russian or Chinese adversary. Together, we can rise to what may be the challenge of a generation, but only if we leverage our ingenuity and collective purpose to defend ourselves from such aggression. I for one, refuse to be so terrorized and feel privileged to lead a team of experts helping to solve this problem for a safer world.
