One Shot, One Chance: The Power of Preparation Last night's VP debate was a clear reminder of an important lesson in both politics and business: preparation is everything. Vance came in ready—confident, composed, and prepared. Walz, on the other hand, seemed out of his depth. Why? Because he didn’t have the reps in. It’s a lesson I was taught early on when raising capital. In high-stakes situations like these, you only get one silver bullet. When you're pitching investors, selling a business idea, or even standing on a debate stage, the margin for error is slim. You might think you can wing it, but in reality, success depends on practice. Running through your pitch, refining your responses, and getting feedback ensures you’re ready when it’s time to deliver. You can't expect to excel without putting in the effort behind the scenes. Just like Vance, who clearly did his homework, preparation is your greatest asset when the pressure is on. Remember, you only get one shot—make sure it's your best.
