What potential impacts could the introduction of 2D apps have on the future development of VR technology?

Lately we've been talking about the benefits of group VR using motion tracked immersive large screen systems - both LED wall and projected, and in Powerwall and CAVE formats. Our customers tell us that unlike head-mounted displays (HMDs), this kind of group VR allows participants to maintain more natural interactions with each other as their facial expressions and body language are fully visible. This fosters better communication which in turn improves team-based decision-making and creative problem-solving. Additionally, recent developments in projector technology from Barco and Digital Projection, paired with 6dof ART motion tracking, now allow multiple users to be individually tracked in the virtual space.
