Our recent Creducation webinar explored the significance of social assets in creating social capital and their essential role in building community and disaster resilience. Our experts shared their significant experience in planning for social assets, engaging with communities on what they need, and collaborating with communities to design and deliver socially inclusive and multi-functional community buildings that build community. Thank you to Ashley Dunn and Lee Hillam from DunnHillam Architecture + Urban Design for joining us and sharing your industry leading case studies. Some takeaways: - Social assets are essential assets for our disaster resilience - Funding and operation of social assets are the responsibility of many from community groups/services, to all tiers of government, and the private sector, - Social assets are best when co-designed with impacted communities - Community buildings can be designed to meet multiple needs from baking scones in the library, to playful access ramps.
