I got burnt out on it after repping banks in commercial litigation for years because I was the man's man fixing their mistakes against less than honest business owners, but doing it for the right clients is pretty fun. Initiation of CIRP - A Brief Overview When a company defaults in repaying their financial or operational debt, a petition can be filed against the Corporate Debtor in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The company is given an opportunity to file a counter, after which both parties file their pleadings at the NCLT’s registered office. Under the time-bound process of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016, if the company is admitted into the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP), an Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) is appointed to act as a caretaker.
