I got my 1st Job post qualifying CA through LinkedIn! Yes you heard it right. 1st Job in a Big 4 that too in a domain I have had no experience in during my articleship days. This is a reminder for all the Freshers and Newly qualified CAs to keep looking out and reaching out to people on LinkedIn to refer you for vacancies in big4s. There are multiple vacancies in multiple domains in big4s (both in domestic & global), what you need is the right approach - to lookout for such vacancies, - to reach out to the right people (also respecting their time and effort), and - to have the confidence in you that you can crack a interview of non traditional roles as well other than Audit & Tax. Trust me getting into Transfer Pricing (being a specialised & niche field) having no prior experience in TP during articleship wasn't easy. Articleship Series with collaboration! Bonus Post.... Que - I want to get into Statutory Audit but the person referring me is in Taxation, will it be helpful? Que - I want to work at firm's Mumbai location but the person referring me works at Bangalore location, will it be helpful? Ans - It doesn't matter whether the person works at Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai or Gurgaon location. It doesn't matter whether person works in Internal audit, Statutory audit, Indirect taxation or M&A. They can refer you for the location or department you wish to get into. I suggest to reach out to person having CA background only because they know about vacancies whereas other background people like engineers don't know about it and generally won't try to search. Que - I haven't cleared CA Intermediate in first attempt, Big4s or Big6 will take me or not? Ans - Attempts doesn't matter, what matters is your knowledge and confidence. Even if they have to choose between two people one cleared in first attempt other in 2, 3 or even 4, if the 4th attempt candidate is having more knowledge and confidence they will take that person. While shortlisting candidates from resume, they may choose 1st attempt candidates but usually big4s hire in bulk so attempt gets compromised. Stay connected for more insights!
