Key takeaways from #cenexexpo2024: - Unlike other years, very few fleet operators made it to Cenex Expo. My impression is that it was mostly thinkers, solutions providers and innovators. - The Logistics sector is going through a perfect storm, forcing innovation: low margins, driver scarcity, increased CO2 reduction and safety requirements. This makes it more difficult for stakeholders to fully focus on issues that aren’t immediate. - There are already standards available for designing HGV charging in depots and to operate BEV/H2 depots. This early focus on commonly-accepted standards should allow us to avoid making the same mistakes made in the early days of car electrification. - Hydrogen was very present. As one panelist mentioned, EV is always going to be more efficient. H2 will be for extreme cases that are hard to decarbonise (ships, planes, very heavy duty transport). Ammonia is forecasted to be the most popular transport vector for H2 due to the existing capabilities. A panelist suggest we consider local grey H2 instead of blue/green H2 coming from far far away. - There are loads of reports and tools already existing to help accelerate the transition. I walked away with multiple interesting references, which I will dig into in the coming weeks. - As a society, we missed the boat by not adequately pricing for the cost of pollution. - Systems thinking and Roadmaps are two important tools to see more clearly through this big challenge.

It’s safe to say that Hannover Messe is still thé place to be for the European industrial sector with over 4000 companies exhibiting. However, it’s far from limited to Europe as there’s a growing number of international exhibitors and visitors at the fair. ? As we expected, #AI was an even bigger focus than it was last year. But making sure there’s high-quality and structured process data to feed it is just as important ? Iron sharpens iron. Being a co-exhibitor this year, we had a lot of interesting conversations with great people from up-and-coming and scaling companies at the Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) pavilion ? In order to minimise any disruption, cars and light vans (up to 7.5t GVW) should avoid Marston Moretaine and approach Cenex Expo from the South, using the A507 (direct link to the M1/A1/A421) and coming through Millbrook village, following the event signage to the relevant entrance. ? Vehicles over 7.5t GVW should follow the route through Marston Moretaine, but should expect significant delays as the roadworks are before the entrances to Cenex Expo. ?
