Indeed reported the legal sector showed the fastest growth in the legal sector with three-month average growth of 5.7% in the three months ending March 2024 compared to the three months ended September 2023. A sector with some of the slowest wage growth was the food prep and service sector, which saw an increase of 2.4%, according to Indeed. Sticking jobs..... what are they? There are always a few of these on my list.... They are jobs that haven't been filled for a substantial period of time... The reasons are varied but are usually one of the below; * The job role/skills set is in short supply * The salary banding is too low for the brief and geographical area * It's a niche role * Remote location or nightmare commute for most * Dreadful holiday entitlement and lack of benefits * Lack of flexibility I work with employers when I can to get around the above. I'll benchmark the role if I think the salary isn't right and I'll offer amendments to a role brief to fit in with a budget. I've just had the KPMG/REC job report in for March and skills in short supply at the min are; * Accounting * Blue Collar * Construction * Procurement * Professional Office Support I've also got a few 'sticking jobs' on at the min. The head of the company or institution has very large tasks, such as appointing employees and managing them in a way, and advancing the company to be competitive with companies, and in this way, his institution will be among the best other international institutions, financial auditing, and other matters, and with all of these matters, he receives the highest salary among All employees If the president leaves his work to someone else temporarily, nothing will happen to stop the growth indicator of development in the institution or company And if the cleaning worker does the same thing for a month or more, the employees are more concerned about cleaning than doing their work that was assigned to them by the head of the company or institution!! ????

Are new laws around unlawful job ads effective in minimising underpayment? On 7 January 2023, new changes to the Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act) came into effect which made it illegal for employers to include pay rates in job ads which are lower than an employee’s legal entitlements under the FW Act or a workplace instrument (e.g. an award or enterprise agreement). Migrant workers and young people are particularly vulnerable to being specifically targeted with such ads. Employers are liable to be fined by the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) if they contravene these new laws and the laws apply retroactively. This means that if a job ad, posted in June 2022, contained pay rates below the legal entitlements at the time, then the employer can be fined. It is highly unlikely that the FWO would have the necessary resources to review the thousands of job ads that are posted daily. Therefore, significant participation by the general public is required to report non-compliant advertisements. This raises the question; how are vulnerable groups expected to report non-compliant job ads where they would otherwise have very limited knowledge of workplace entitlements? It is evident that proactive education is needed to specifically target these vulnerable groups on how to navigate their awards and pay rates to ensure the effectiveness of these changes. This will ensure that such employees are equipped with the knowledge on their entitlements to easily identify contraventions. This will also allow them to raise any issues directly with employers and reach a quick resolution in instances of error. Are these changes a step in the right direction or a failure of legislation to address the root causes of underpayments?

CA Employers - might want to look at this new County of LA law and start working on how to follow it. My prediction is this will become a state mandate in some format. A few quick things to do - have schedules, post them and don't change them. Make sure your supervisors work with employees around their schedule limitations. It's cheaper to be nice upfront then pay legal fees later. Even if this law doesn't apply to you, happier employees = better customer service. https://lnkd.in/guzhy8zf
