There is one key capacity you can learn in order to not just survive, but to thrive. In many ways, this is the number one capacity I wish every child learned in school (it actually pisses me off that this is not part of every curriculum across the world). I believe it is even a key capacity for the future of humanity. It is.... ?? emotional self-regulation. The natural response to stress is to contract. We see it everywhere: ?? when your amygdala gets activated and your sympathetic nervous system is put in alert, you get tunnel vision, your body gets tense, and there is a part of you that wants to roll up in a little ball and vanish. ??teams start satisficing, dropping tasks, hiding and blaming ??? companies focus on cost cutting, layoffs, killing innovation and any new initiatives, and by that kill psychological safety (as a result high performers leave, and low performers dig into their trenches) ?? nations become nationalist, close borders, create tariffs, even start wars.... It all starts with the individuals' stress response - especially that of leaders. Breathing through difficulties, learning to find your center amidst the storm allows you to keep your sight set on what really matters. We will have decades of stressful situations coming up as the old systems crumble. Entire industries will vanish, the geopolitical order and supply chains will reshuffle, and climate events will cause havoc across the planet. Especially as a leader, if you want to do more than just "hold on" while this is happening, if you want to actively shape the future and build the new systems we so desperately need, start by learning to self-regulate when you feel stressed. Yes in ragard to companies who are 'restructuring' as they call it there is a lot of turmoil going on, deprication even because the ones in charge who took their leading roles often did not come by that job so honestly More often we see the ones in charge laying off people after they extrapolated the ideas, plans or visions that that employee had. To get a hold of the information the strategies that are copied often seem more like extortion, hijacking but in most cases they are accomplished by manipulation by copycats After the robbery these (often) alpha males with their profitable positions get rid of the source being beta-people who have the knowledge and expertise but are not acquainted with the sharktank they have been swimming in The deception goes far beyond reason but in my own experience I tend to pull all my plugs, the company will not know anything anylonger as I, the source creator put a stop to the hijacking thiefs Sometimes that works, but bad people also often run into problem of their own because when they get rid of the inventors or creators of ideas it mostly comes to light sooner or later that they just do not have any clue at all what they are doing In conclusion it comes down to the money that makes the world go round, that at the same time is the ax of all evil, money will spark greed and these greedy get more devious over time and get more competitive the more inflation is heightened It are in fact capitalistic influences that ruin the businessworld with these ancient Roman (read : demonic) principles that are still applied within companies. They persist due to winged arguments like : The right of the strongest or fittest, but shortly its a testosterone thing Many of these so called 'leaders' use drugs or testosterone enhancing systems but in that very same instance they do not know that they ruin their own metabolism and maybe Karma will give them with cancer of the red meat they consumed in large amounts Karma counts everywhere and is an omnipresent principle, never envy the ones you apparently hate n'or judge to soon because if Karma gets a hold of these evil people they will be the ones who are the goners, but knowing the principle of Karma in my experience it appears that Karma gets rid of this negativity for good The betas who are pushed aside will get new job opportunities, this system (I know) is dishonest and evil to the core but this is exactly how companies go down in a heartbeat because so many sharks pollute the tank while in fact the only thing they do is pollute the water This is not what companies need, the CEO's are often so rich that they do not have any sense of reality anymore but this is also where I can help with my expertise, with knowledge and most of all a broad experience Knowledge is what matters, the boys and girls in these fastlanes will eventually run into themselves and with it they themselves do not even see that their absense of knowledge has pushed the company towards chapter 11

//THIS IS THE NR 1 CRISIS STRATEGY, AND IT MAKES ME SICK! I sat in that meeting today and felt my heart sink. Another "emergency cost-cutting session." Another round of layoffs being discussed like we're trimming dead plants, not destroying people's livelihoods. And you know what breaks me? These are the same executives who last year couldn't stop talking about "innovation" and "disruption." Let me get personal: I've been through numerous market downturns. Every single time, I watched good companies become shells of themselves because they chose fear over courage. One of my mentors once told me: "In a storm, while everyone runs for shelter, build a damn windmill." Last week, I had to console a brilliant innovator who got laid off. Today, I saw that same company post a record profit from their "strategic restructuring." It made me sick. Here's my raw truth: If your answer to every crisis is to sacrifice your people, you're not a leader. You're a coward with a calculator. I refuse to believe that the only way forward is backward. I refuse to accept that the best we can do is survive. Remember: While Blockbuster was closing stores, Netflix was dreaming bigger. While Nokia was "optimizing costs," Apple was revolutionizing phones. Your people aren't costs to be cut. They're flames to be fanned. During our 2008 layoffs, one of my team members asked me how I managed to stay calm during such a crisis. I’ve realized that it’s the mindset and actions we take that truly make the difference. 20% of people quit businesses within one year of starting and 45% fail within 5 years but only 10% actually succeed. After watching successful founders for over 16 years here's what I learned: it's not talent that separates the 2% from the rest. Here's how understanding the differences in mindset and approach actually creates that gap: ? They choose discomfort daily: While others wait for motivation, the 2% embrace the grind. When I started my advisory firm in 2006, I made 100's of cold calls every morning. Uncomfortable? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely. ? They reframe rejections: Each 'no' isn't a failure—it's market research. During the 2008 recession, every client rejection helped us pivot our business model. Those 'nos' literally shaped our success story. ? They build resilience rituals: Success isn't about bouncing back—it's about bouncing forward. After losing 30 team members during the downturn, we started 'Failure Friday' meetings. We'd share setbacks and extract lessons. That ritual transformed our company culture.
