Is the Future of Waste Recycling ?? Already in Dubai? Imagine getting paid ?????? for your recycled waste, which is then converted into energy ??, valuable RAW materials are extracted. A container format that can be installed on the roof of a residential complex, business center, or supermarket. No more payments to waste management companies and no noisy, non-eco-friendly garbage trucks nearby your houses. How is this possible ???? Can this technology be applied on islands or ships to eliminate waste generation outside of closed ecosystems? Could it be installed in remote areas and provide benefits, for example, in African countries, reducing growing local landfills? So many questions, and they can be answered by the founder of the startup Waste-to-En (https://lnkd.in/dWCZNe3K) using patented gasification technology (https://lnkd.in/dw7wKU6W).? ?? Exciting News from Our Waste Management Project in the UAE ?? Hey everyone! Just wrapped up a fantastic project with Joel J Michael from Oceans and Us, where we tackled some big environmental challenges right here in the UAE. Big thanks to Dima Hamidi Sakr and Hatem Kenawi for their awesome guidance in the Partner Challenge course at Zayed University. Here’s the scoop: The Problem: We've got a lot of plastic waste ending up where it shouldn't—in landfills and oceans. Our Solutions: Rewards for Recycling: We set up a system where everyone gets goodies for recycling. More recycling = more perks! More Recycling Spots & Info: We’re talking loads of new recycling stations and campaigns to teach everyone the hows and whys of recycling. ?? Tech to the Rescue: Introduced smart bins that sort recyclables and work with an app that tracks your recycling and rewards you. Neat, right? Loved working on this with a team that’s as pumped about making a difference as I am. Here’s to cleaner oceans and a sustainable future! #Sustainability #Innovation #WasteManagement #UAE #ZayedUniversity #EnvironmentalImpact

Turning Waste into Resources with RECP: A Step Toward Sustainable Waste Management At Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, various forms of waste—including plastic and glass—are currently disposed of in landfills. However, by implementing RECP strategies, we can transform this challenge into an opportunity for sustainability: 1. Waste Minimization: Conducting waste audits to identify avoidable waste streams and reducing materials at the source. 2. Recycling Initiatives: Glass and plastic waste can be segregated for recycling instead of burning, reducing air pollution and conserving raw materials. 3. Material Recovery: Metals and other reusable materials can be sorted for refurbishment or sold to recyclers, creating a circular economy within the park. 4. Composting Organic Waste: Organic waste streams can be diverted for composting, enriching the soil and reducing landfill pressure. By embedding RECP principles into our daily operations, we can decrease environmental impact, promote resource efficiency, and lead the way to a cleaner, greener future. #Sustainability #WasteManagement #RECP #CircularEconomy

It's an honor to join the UNOPS PLEASE Project as a Technical Expert – Environment for Pakistan. Funded by the World Bank, implemented by SACEP, and supported by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the PLEASE Project aims to tackle the pressing issue of plastic pollution in South Asian Seas. Did you know that South Asia is the second-largest contributor to global plastic waste, generating a staggering 334 million metric tons of solid waste annually? Shockingly, 70-80% of this waste ends up in our oceans, with 12% being plastic. Pakistan alone generates approximately 3.3 million tons of plastic waste yearly, equivalent to the height of two K-2 mountains. Sadly, much of this waste is improperly disposed of, further polluting our environment. UNOPS is working towards a Circular Plastic Economy and sustainable plastic waste management solutions in South Asia. Let's make a positive impact on our environment together! #PLEASE #PlasticFreeSeas #Sustainability #Recycling #Plasticpollution #circularplasticeconomy #CircularEconomy??#UNOPS #WorldBank?#SACEP #Wastemanagement

Transforming Morocco into a beacon of sustainability! ?? Despite challenges in solid waste management, the Moroccan government is doubling down on its commitment to a circular economy with a groundbreaking €648 million investment across six key cities. Led by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, this ambitious roadmap aims to revolutionize waste management by implementing selective collection, recycling plants, and public awareness campaigns on eco-friendly practices. From Rabat to Marrakech, these initiatives not only align with Morocco's vision for the 2030 World Cup host cities but also underscore its dedication to environmental stewardship. By converting household waste into biofuels and introducing Extended Producer Responsibility, Morocco is not just tackling pollution but paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future. The informal work of the Zabaleen in Cairo has been a landmark of waste infrastructure, but the city needs to be more ambitious to further boost a local green economy while empowering its people. Much ink has been spilled by the media about the Zabaleen, the most efficient recyclers in the world. Their work in Cairo is exemplary, helping that city to recycle?three times?more waste than, say, New York or any other Western city. The?Zabaleen collect two-thirds of the total garbage thrown away by Greater Cairo’s 22 million residents, and recycle up to 80% of the city of Cairo. The magic relies on door-to-door waste pickup. The Zabaleen (literally “garbage men” in Arabic) navigate Cairo’s labyrinth of alleys, busy roads and apartment complexes to collect household waste. They use pickup trucks to transport the garbage back home. There, they sort and separate plastic, glass, iron, steel, and aluminum, and then sell them by the?kilo to intermediaries, such as small factories that squeeze and compact the materials into pallets. These pallets are then sold to either environmental NGOs or directly to local or international companies that produce recycled raw materials. Zabaleen’s work is a tedious, mostly manual task, but it is effective in recycling most of Cairo’s plastic consumption. The Zabaleen take the garbage to their homes and prepare it for recycling themselves. As plastic keeps contaminating our oceans, and the impacts of climate change keep coming at us harder and faster than expected, Zabaleen’s work is a momentous undertaking that finds itself on the right side of history. Did you know that a single plastic bottle, reborn through recycling, can illuminate your world for hours? Recycling a plastic bottle uses significantly less energy than creating a new one, and that saved energy can actually power a 60-watt light bulb for 6 hours. Manufacturing plastic bottles from scratch requires a massive amount of energy, primarily derived from fossil fuels. Recycling, however, is a much cleaner and more efficient process. By choosing to recycle, you're not just reducing waste, you're actively contributing to a more sustainable future. At Shine Skip, we believe in a multi-pronged approach to waste management. While we provide solutions for all waste streams, recycling remains a critical component. #ShineSkip #Recycling #?Dubai?
