Moreover, they receive time currency equal to the number of hours worked, and that time currency can be used to purchase services and goods that meet their needs. Challenges facing small Nonprofits?? One of the major challenges I face in Enibo Albert Charity Foundation is attracting individuals with specific skills and dedication to our cause. Many people express interest in volunteering with us but lack the necessary expertise to contribute effectively or aren't willing to commit. Some of them only want to participate in outreaches without displaying a long-term commitment. Out of a group of 20-25 volunteers, only a handful show consistent dedication to the organisation’s mission. One thing I have realised is that persistence and dedication to our cause are gradually drawing skilled volunteers who are eager to offer their expertise and services. While we have managed to get a few skilled volunteers, securing a larger team of committed individuals remains an ongoing challenge. But guess what? The journey to creating social impact involves overcoming obstacles and staying true to your vision for positive change. To fellow nonprofit founders facing similar struggles, I urge you not to lose hope. Stay determined, continue your work with passion, and trust that dedicated volunteers will join your cause in due time. Thinking about whether you should measure your impact on volunteers? Stop. Chances are the work's already been done for you. There's already a wealth of evidence that there is a positive association for non-disabled adults between formal volunteering and - improved life satisfaction - increased happiness - reduced symptoms of depression Instead spend your time exploring if your volunteers find your roles to be - balanced, not overburdening them and options to change commitment - meaningful, linked to what they want from their roles - connected, with opportunities to meet, build relationships and belong - appreciated, through training, support and gratitude These are the key 'mechanisms of change' that can help to explain whether volunteers experience the above benefits or not when volunteering, so focus on whether people feel this way and use the evidence base build your case for impact instead.
