Do not do this!! ? When you make a joke about having not prepared, you are telling your audience that you don’t care enough to bring your full effort to this meeting/pitch/presentation/talk. This applies to so many areas of life. I studied music and played in many bands in my early 20s. It was so common to see musicians joke to their audience about being unprepared out of self-deprecation and what they thought was endearing nervousness. But this is a major cringe moment! People have set aside time to hear you, even for the most mundane meeting, so don’t insult them by mocking your own lack of input. The price for average is not much: just do a little and that is over, not for excellent, outstanding results. In my little years of experience as organisation development consultant, I have widely consulted and worked very closely with over 100 CEOs. I noticed similar DNA in all successful corporations or CEOs. They are indeed radical, passionate, incurable, mad at their vision, devoted, dedicated, hungry and always full and fill with curiosity. Until you are burning with incurable passion, readiness, disciplined to succeed, you will no go where, you will fade away in no time. Success is for those who are ready to pay it's price, not for jokers and playboy. You are either pushing something, or something is pushing you: the results would show. No pains, no gains.
