To pay tribute to Mother’s Day, we premiere the series ‘Loved Clothes Last’ with my dearly beloved mother. A series all about the stories we wear and the memories hidden within the seams of our garments. It’s about the love affair we have with our garments, the kind-of-love that makes us want to wrap our clothing up in a loving embrace for a little while longer. By fostering an emotional bond to our garments, we create the conditions to want to care for, repair, alter, postpone the replacement of, or never let go of certain garments in our closet, therefore reducing unneeded consumption as well as the amount of clothing ending up in landfills. ?It’s about saying to ourselves, ‘Even though I could easily discard these dresses with a hole, stain or faded colors, I’m going to revamp them anyway, because they’ve been through so much with me and they always bring back memories. It’s about the traditional attire tucked away, and the vibrant fabrics that evoke memories of celebrations and joyous occasions. It’s about recognizing that while there will always be new clothing to buy and wear, the stories and memories hidden within the seams of the items already in our closet are one-of-a-kind, and that kind-of love will always be enough to make us want to wrap our clothing up in a loving embrace for a little while longer. The hottest fall trend this season is already hanging in your closet. ?? The average American buys 53 new items of clothing each year. That means we’re buying?just over one new piece of clothing a week—and wearing items?less than 50 times?before it gets thrown in a landfill. I’m not here to stand on a soap box because I’m guilty of feeling an underlying emotion—and instead of interrogating that further—clicking add to cart. But the reminder to explore what I already own in my closet looms large. I don’t have a ton of “never worns,” but I?do?have items that have only seen the light of day a handful of times. Our clothes don’t deserve to waste away and collect dust. They deserve to be taken out and shown a good time! And if not with you, it’s ok to pass them on to someone else. Ready to make connections in your closet? Check out my article "'Fall' back in love with your clothes," on my fashion and culture substack "Thanks for waiting!" #slowfashion #climateweek #nyc #sustainability

"And today, TODAY, I realized that I will never be normal and follow rules set by others, well, except for taxes and laws that could get me in prison, of course. Some order must be maintained. I don’t really have any rules, but I have boundaries. Today's profound insight is that I am officially ending the fault-finding and searching for unresolved traumas within myself. I’m done with that. And the flaws that exist on my body; scars, missing hair, overweight and a big belly, vitiligo, and 10-12 other issues. But these are my IMPERFECTIONS. Everyone is forgiven, but that does not mean they have access to me. Now it’s their turn to heal themselves. Thus, I conclude that after 25 years of persistent healing, troubleshooting, and self-healing, I am predominantly whole, healthy, and well. (Really well, actually.) Meeting with factories, suppliers and knitters whether to add a thinner serie to the heavy knit Antidote for John Sterner. Would that be cashmere? Is there eco cashmere? Need to google it. Also great meeting with Tine on our rain adventures. Discussed how "eco" and "sustainability" seems to be focus for all outdoor brands while luxurious houses does not seem to care so much of the environment and keep going like before, focusing on design, craftmanship etc. We agreed that there must be a possibility to let these two meet. To make eco and still be high end. Will talk further on this tomorrow. Maybe we are on to something, samples looks great. Now we need to connect the dots. Or the drops to be more precise. Finding an investor. A customer is mailing me asking where his sweater are. Hmm, the constant sun here on ?land must have made me forget his order. So I tell him this and ask for apology and that I will ship his sweater today. Will add a complimentary pair of ragg socks and a photograph of the sheep farm when shipping his turtle neck from PostNord office at ICA M?rbyl?nga some miles away. It must come to an end of this fragmented, speedy ping-pong championships where I feel that I must immediately respond with a backhanded comment that tops the one just received. Often, it doesn’t end up being very profound, sensible, or funny. Writing to each other is more in sync with my rhythm, my way of being, and my time. Unless we are sitting opposite each other with phones turned off, that is, without distractions. And ideally; lying next to each other in my marshmallow bed, in the dark, with a cool temperature, some The Radio Department, and lit candles. That’s where I can express myself, but it would be strange to ask friends to lie next to me just like that. Maybe I don’t handle eye contact very well? It’s very intimate to look into another person’s eyes. I see too much. And maybe I’m afraid that others see too much in me.” /Scattered showers/

??? The Lost Art of Sharing and Borrowing Clothes ??? Growing up, I always admired how my dad dressed. His style was effortlessly cool, understated yet bold, and it left a lasting impression on me. Over the years, I’ve found myself rummaging through his closet, uncovering hidden gems that feel timeless and uniquely him. What’s fascinating is how our styles are different yet deeply similar a reflection of both individuality and shared influences. Borrowing his clothes has taught me a powerful lesson: the art of sharing and borrowing clothes isn’t just practical, it’s transformative. In a world dominated by fast fashion, we’ve forgotten how sharing wardrobes whether with family, friends, or loved ones can breathe new life into garments. When someone else wears your clothes, they take on a new identity, a fresh story. By embracing this tradition: ?? We reduce waste and break the cycle of overconsumption. ?? We celebrate the stories behind our clothes, turning them into heirlooms. ?? We discover how style connects generations, influences, and personalities. Borrowing from my dad’s closet isn’t just nostalgic it’s a reminder that we don’t need something new to feel stylish or unique. Sometimes, the best pieces are already within reach, waiting to be rediscovered and reimagined. Let’s bring back the art of sharing. It’s not only sustainable but a beautiful way to celebrate creativity, connection, and the stories our clothes carry. #SustainableFashion #SlowFashion #WardrobeSharing #FastFashion #RepeatOutfitOffender

? An Open Letter to My 10-Year-Old Self Remember when our idea of high fashion was draping Mom’s sarees in every creative way possible? ?For me, it certainly was. I used to drape her saree and fix it with so many pins. I’d apply a bindi, put on bangles, lipstick, and finish it off with some shiny sandals. That was my first real fashion experience. And yes, I also tried draping her beautiful dupatta. Haha, those were the days. After all this fashion expertise, I’d proudly go to my mom and show her. What’s next? She couldn’t stop laughing, but she always appreciated my efforts. In those moments, I didn’t care much about how I looked—whether the dress fit properly or not didn’t matter. ?What I realized back then was that fashion was all about being confident in your choices. When I think back to our childhood fashion sense and compare it to today’s fashion industry, I realize something: not much has changed in the essence of it all. Let’s take a moment to reflect: ?? Back then, fashion wasn’t about trends or brands. It was about finding beauty in simplicity and confidence in our creativity. ?? Today’s fashion industry may seem complex, but those early lessons remind us that true style is timeless, and real elegance comes from within. Let’s keep that spirit alive as we navigate the ever-evolving world of fashion. After all, true style never goes out of fashion. #Nostalgia #FashionJourney #Creativity #AuthenticStyle

Green boasts more variations in hue than any other color, ranging from cool sea greens to warm olives. As a mid-tone, parakeet green is trendy yet tricky to handle without the right touch. Overall, green symbolizes vitality, positivity, motivation, and health. To wear it successfully, it's essential to know which shades flatter you best. Integrate green into your daily style with these five strategies: 1. Pair green with blue tones, from denim to navy. 2. Use green with neutral hues like black, white, and camel. 3. Venture into monochrome, ensuring to vary shades creatively. 4. Combine green with colors like purple, magenta, orange, or yellow for a bold look. 5. Exercise caution with red; instead, pair it with olive for a harmonious effect. If you’re ready to enjoy dressing your best and controlling how others perceive you, I can help you transform your style. Together, we'll: - Discover styles that you adore and that flatter you. - Turn your closet into an inspiring and versatile space. - Make every fashion purchase truly worthwhile. - Ensure you turn heads for all the right reasons. ? Ever Felt Like You Have Nothing to Wear But Don’t Want to Shop? Let’s Get Creative! ? - Have you ever stared at your closet, thinking, I’ve worn everything? Or felt like you need a wardrobe refresh without blowing your budget? ???? - A few weeks ago, I felt the same way, so I decided to try something fun—Swap & Shop with my friends! It’s like a mini wardrobe makeover without spending a dime. Here’s how it worked: We each brought a few pieces we weren’t wearing anymore—like that cute dress that didn’t quite fit or the top we only wore once. And then, the magic happened. ? - My friend loved one of my floral skirts that I was ready to part with, and in exchange, I scored an oversized sweater I had been eyeing in her closet for months! ???? - It was like a shopping spree, but better—because it was free and felt more personal. Plus, it’s sustainable! ???? If you’re craving new outfits but don’t want to splurge, grab some friends and start swapping! Who knows, your next favorite piece could be waiting in their closet! ??? #swapandshop #sustainablefashion #wardroberefresh #business I'm Neha Vasdev.
