Disability rights are Human Rights! Why do we have to Advocate (fight ) harder for our rights? Why are our rights the first to come under fire? We need to be visible! We need to use our voices! Have you forgotten about SSI and SSDI? We still can’t marry the person that we love without losing our very much needed Social Security and Healthcare benefits. We are capable! We have goals! Our lives are on hold because unity and solving problems has become a thing of the past. When Disabled people work together we create waves, an impact. We need to make those waves! We need our impact to be felt. “Don’t you forget about us” #DisabilityRightsAreHumanRights #TheArcOfTheUnitedStates #SpecialOlympics #Healthcare #SSI #SSDI #EndDisabilityMarriagePolicy #Education #Capability #Unity

There are moments in this advocacy journey when you’re stopped in your tracks—when the weight of it all suddenly becomes undeniable. The constant push for inclusion, the need to educate others, the pressure to address the “right” topics—all of it builds up, and you find yourself wrestling with pent-up emotions that have been simmering beneath the surface. It’s in these moments of pause that you finally realize the invisible load you’ve been carrying all along. This invisible load includes: ? Balancing the internal pressure of wanting to address a wide range of critical topics with the need to choose those that resonate most. ? Navigating external expectations and demands from audiences who may prioritize certain issues over others. ? Educating others while managing our own realities and often lacking support from those in our personal lives who understand the advocacy role. ? Fighting for inclusion in spaces where it should already be a given regardless of resistance. ? Balancing the emotional labor of advocacy with other priorities, fair compensation expectations, and personal energy levels. ? Continuing to push for change, even when it feels like progress is slow. These are things I wish more people realized about advocacy. Photo Description: graphic with grey hexagon on a white background. The middle says The Invisible Load of Disability Advocacy. The rest is listed in the caption. #DisabilityAdvocacy #InvisibleLoad #InclusionMatters #DisabilityRights #AdvocacyJourney #MentalHealth #EmotionalLabor #AdvocacyChallenges

"Disability Issues" are everybody's issues! Bodily autonomy, health disparities, access to health care, proximity to political power, Liberty, housing, education, employment. As a group we are bigger than either the Republicans or Democrats and we must demand politicians understand that. See how candidates running for office responded to the disability community's questions on Disability Rights Montana's website. Then decide who you think answered best and use your power at the ballot box! #NDVRW2024 #DisabilityVoting #REVUP #AccessibilityMatters #EveryVoteCounts #Inclusion #EqualRights #DisabilityAdvocacy #VoterEmpowerment https://lnkd.in/gQa2DvYC

My advocacy message (Part three) Dear society, you need to change your attitude toward people with disabilities - special needs. know that they are not imbecile, they are not useless. They are values and assets. Change your attitude, change your perspective and then, change the way you act towards them. Let's embrace INCLUSION. A world where everyone is involved. A society that is free and fair for everyone, regardless! Do I have a world for the government? No! I have spoken to society and if my words are well planted into the society, I believe they'll grow in governmental affairs because society is the heart of The government. Lastly, I want to shoot my plead to all organizations that have a similar goal to ABLE VOICE , that we should intensify our work until our voice is heard, accepted and produce real-time results. This is my advocacy message, I have more but sometimes, a seed is needed. And you reading this, if our concerns strike your heart, share them with your networks. By doing this, you're amplifying our Voice. I am Oluwatobi Oyedemi and I believe we all have a role to play in advocating for persons with special needs, thereby making the world a better place. #AbleVoiceExperience #Disability #FirstImpressionsMatter #NGOlife #AbleVoiceFamily #MakingADifference #InspiringStories #AbleVoiceAdventures #Advocacy #Childrenwithspecialneeds #CommunityWork #AbleVoice #everyone #highlights @highlight @everyone

HOW CAN WE MAKE MORE ACCESSIBLE SPACES? ?? As Freya says, “It’s about making sure you find the baseline, where people with disabilities don’t have to work extra hard.” The next time you’re organising a party, or picking out a cool hang-out spot, or hosting an event, think about how you can hold space for everyone’s needs, especially those living with disabilities. This is one step towards creating a more accessible and inclusive community so that everyone can participate and have fun! This clip is from our latest season of PROJECT ROCKIT TV Season 4 in partnership with the Youth Disability Advocacy Service and supported by the William Buckland Foundation. AuDHD, Disabled content creator, writer, presenter, speaker, researcher, consultant on education and employment reform and neuro-inclusion | Community Support Coordinator (Organization for Autism Research)
Disability advocacy is simply doing yesterday's work today. It is incorporating and implementing supports for a vulnerable population that should have been there to begin with. It is fostering an inclusive and accessible culture and society that should existed from the start. It is providing disabled people with the basic human rights they should have already been entitled to by the mere nature of their personhood and existence. Advocacy is doing the work we were unable or unwilling to do decades ago. #autism #autistic #neurodiversity #neurodivergent #education #employment #disability #advocacy #inclusion #dei #intersectionality #communication #stigma #bias #ableism #culture #accommodations #pride #hr #discrimination #systems #accessibility #privilege #workplace

These days there’s too much emphasis on exceptionalism among people with disabilities. It feels like a never ending cycle that is isolating, competitive, and invites burnout. Our worth is not determined by our achievements. Disabled people are worthy. It’s vital to recognize that every person has inherent value, independent of what they achieve. Advocacy should focus on creating a society where everyone is valued and supported for who they are, not just for what they can do.
