I mentioned it in my last post: it's easier to start a company than to run one. Here's another piece of data (from our friends at Carta) that showcases how difficult it is to find funding, thus keeping your company alive long enough to gain traction. I'll focus on 'primary seed' rounds, which include the type of companies we work with at Connect Sverige Region V?st: it takes, on average, 5 months longer to raise a round than it did 8 years ago. We typically advise the entrepreneurs we work with to brace themselves for the long and tedious road ahead: raising capital takes a lot of time and energy, it shifts focus from product development and operations, and it can affect the team's morale. From Sand Hill to Spaklerweg -?just returned from our VC tour of the Valley.? Exhausted, but fully energized. ? Here's what I learned: ? This is the eco-system to turn bold ambitions into reality. Met founders and funders that seem to have insane ambitions, but they might actually pull it off over here. A true breeding ground for breakthrough innovation ? What an amazing clustering of talent, ambition and can-do mentality. It was truly inspirational and highly contagious ? Dutch founders seem to do well in the Valley. Met a few great examples that blend our Dutch down-to-earth mentality with super high ambitions.?Great role-models?? And for MOOS:? ?? Strong encouragement for MOOS. We clearly stand to disrupt the retail space, finally offering a solution that can leverage shelf insights at scale to improve retail operations ?? Some clear feedback to improve our effectiveness. We seem to have all of the cards on the table, but now need to play them well. Loved how a few simple wording changes resonated much better. There’s clearly a VC jargon and format to adopt ?? Made some great connections to help us propel our mission and help MOOS conquer the world Looking forward to the follow-up actions and infusing some of the US-VC spirit to MOOS???

?? Reflecting on VDS... One year ago, we launched the first version of what is now known as Critical Match—a platform crafted by and for the tabletop community. Thanks to the unwavering support of the Centro Europeo de Empresas e Innovación de Navarra, we embarked on a journey to find investors who could help us take Critical Match to the next level. And guess what? ?? We’ve achieved our goal! We're coming back with over 5 connections with VCs and BA groups who, after seeing our pitch, want to dive deeper into the project. But that’s not even the most exciting part (yes, I know... having 5 big companies that manage millions interested in our project is incredibly thrilling ??). What made the experience even better was the community—meeting people from other industries, corporate leaders, and fellow entrepreneurs who approached us just to learn about what we do. Many of them are also passionate fans of the Tabletop world! We’re returning with renewed enthusiasm to keep building something as exciting as Critical Match, and honestly, our spirits are sky-high! ?? Our next challenges? Meetings with the investors,along with upcoming CEIN events where we’ll get to showcase Critical Match to investors even more—this time, at our home. ??
