Asking for help is a skill that can be challenging for all of us! This skill is something I touch on in my Growth Mindset workshop, along with answering the question, “How do we coach kids through getting help when they need it?”

It is fundamental to first really understand our needs. Then, ask for help. We need to learn how to embrace gaps and growth spaces and learn how to be vulnerable overall. (That is powerful). It starts with accepting that it is ok NOT TO KNOW. To feel lost at times. People are always keen to help. If they can not help you with specific questions, they can lead and guide you to find the one person who can. We all need support; it is the only way to grow. ???

It’s not common for adults to discuss the topic of “Back to school!” in relation to themselves rather than children. However, no topic can stop genuine toastmasters from speaking! We had extended table topics session at PMI UK Toastmasters devoted to our experience at school as well as our thoughts about education and school time in future. If you are up to the challenge here is one of the questions: “If you think about future, 100 years from now in, what do you think would be a typical school day for a pupil in this country?”
No meeting is ever the same at our club… Neither the meeting theme of the day We were “Back to school” last meeting and learning overcome challenges. THANKS to all participants for making this meeting a success! Although I may be a tad biased, I strongly recommend that those interested in digital innovations and learner mobility attend this event. It was THE inspiration for the MyCreds National Network in Canada and My eQuals in Australia along with similar efforts around the world. Millions of learners benefit from the efforts of these thought giants. If you want to improve study abroad, advance access for learners to education and the workforce, facilitate opportunities for refugees, enable adoption of microcredentials, explore and share innovative ways for how to change digital credential exchange, advance standards, etc. (the list goes on), these are the people who are making change happen at globally.
Join us Oct 6 to 9 in San Diego for the GDN Annual Meeting. This is an international convening where we work in partnership with global leaders in education, industry, standards bodies and government along with credential exchange networks and learners to expand digital credential portability, a key ingredient to successful learner and labour mobility. Sample feature speakers include the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Strada Education Foundation, the South African Qualifications Authority, the CSSD from China, IBM, the National Student Clearinghouse, and government entities like the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education & Skills, DAAD from Germany, and DUO from the Netherlands. We look forward to seeing you there. Joanne https://lnkd.in/gyk5Hadm
