This is an appreciation post for the amazing Team I belong to. My grandfather's birthday is coming up. He was the most inspiring individual I have ever met, and every January I think of him, miss him and dedicate intentional time to being grateful for everything he tought me. One of the things he used to talk to me about was the difference between "Working" and "Being in love with what you do". He used to talk about the responsibility we have as talented individuals to give back, become contributing members of society and make sure others follow our footsteps, but also about our obligation to love what we do. He kept telling me, even though I was too young to fully understand, that the responsibility to be passionate and happy about what we do is on us, and that if we cannot find the way to be in love with what we do in our current situation - It's on us to change our reality and find a place that would allow us to be. *** My first manager used to tell me my biggest issue was that I value building a connection with people (users/colleagues) too much, so I fail to see the real goal of my role. I know he meant it as a negative thing... But what I heard was "You are not in the right place for you". *** I'm celebrating these days a series of big professional milestones that I am not yet able to openly talk about, but make me feel very lucky and humble. I'm grateful to work for a company that allows me to be in love with what I do for 5.5 years already #wix and in a field where building connections is in the heart and core of my role. What are you grateful for today? For me, I am grateful for the wonderful organizations I work with. You see, the feeling of gratitude in the workplace is something many people overlook but is very important. Showing up daily with a heart of gratitude puts you in a positive mood, especially for those of us in customer service roles. The energy is very contagious and can cause a ripple effect on your customers and everyone who encounters you. While you complain and bemoan your lot about your jobs, remember that there are millions of people jobless, doing menial jobs to survive, and searching for the exact position you're in right now. Learn to take a while and count your little blessings. You're still better off than some people and have a job that pays your bills. I hope this motivates you today to still give in your best irrespective of what's happening at your workplace. You can choose happiness and gratitude even in the midst of storm. The ability to balance work and family is a gift that I don’t take for granted. 2?? Grateful for my people: My family, friends, and colleagues are my support system.
