On 9 February, 2023, two South African engineers, Frik Potgieter (54) and Peter Huxham (55) checked into their hotel in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, a country in West Africa. They were due to return home to SA the next morning after a five-week work rotation for their employer, SBM Offshore, a global oil and gas company. They never came home, and are still in prison in that country, for a crime they never committed. Despite ongoing and dedicated efforts by their employer and the families to secure their release, it’s now been more than 16 months since Frik and Peter were illegally arrested and imprisoned in Equatorial Guinea on bogus drug charges. Two days before their arrest, South Africa seized a super yacht belonging to Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodore Nguema Obiang Mangue (known as Teddy). South Africa had also seized the Vice President's luxury properties in Cape Town a few months earlier, after a court ruling on a totally separate matter. Tragically, Frik and Peter are political pawns, held as state hostages in retaliation for SA’s seizure of the VP of Equatorial Guinea’s luxury assets. They are innocent and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. They must be brought home - the families need the South African government to do all it can to get them released. Their story needs to be heard! Watch this clip from Carte Blanche that explains the entire ordeal. Share and follow to create more attention and help bring these men home. #freeFrikandPeter #JusticeForFrikAndPeter #CarteBlanche #HumanRights #SBMOffshore #StateHostagesEquatorialGuinea #DIRCO -Department of International Relations and Cooperation SBM Offshore https://lnkd.in/dnUv_yij

Europe gave birth to the first industrial revolution and Europe is still introducing revolution like industry v4.0 s as nd the 5.0. We evolved without considering too much the environment and now we should recognise to learn from others instead showing off our few acts for reducing pollution.
Simply majestic… no comments to add. Go Guyana!!!

Preserving sharks and rays is fundamental to maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems. Identifying Important Shark and Ray Areas (ISRAs) in New Zealand and the tropical islands plays a key role in marine conservation. These regions are vital habitats for diverse shark and ray species, many of which are threatened by overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change. Pinpointing ISRAs allows us to focus conservation efforts where they are needed most, ensuring the protection of these keystone species. Moreover, understanding the connectivity between these habitats is critical for safeguarding migratory species and ensuring their survival across different regions throughout their life cycles.?
The Important Shark and Ray Areas project's next area of interest is New Zealand and Pacific Islands! Please submit preliminary areas of interest by July 5th! Learn more about us: https://lnkd.in/eXiqUiFv
