Terminator Agro Reports: There's some wild scenes coming out of WA this season with radish flowers carpeting the crops. A wet winter in the north has made paddocks too tricky to spray, despite aerial spraying doing its best. Yet, the flowers are hard to miss in those fields now. ?? Research shows that while radish seed can last up to 10 years, most of it is gone within 5. Still, farmers might notice a hefty radish crop next year… but the real storm hits in two years. When the pod breaks down, it’s germination central! Here’s a heads-up: Wild radish is a perfect candidate for harvest weed seed control (HWSC), and a mill like the Seed Terminator will crack those radish seeds, even with a bypass screen. It’s an easy win to tackle radish and stop next year’s blow-out from becoming an even bigger problem! The good news? The tourists will have a bit more to photograph, adding wild radish to their Patterson's Curse pics! ?? #HarvestWeedSeedControl #WildRadish #WeedManagement #SeedTerminator #AgTech #FarmingInnovation https://buff.ly/3U30aIF

Inter Canopy Lighting. Anyone not at least investigating this might be missing out on serious crop improvements. Does anyone utilize this technique? If so, what results are you seeing? This lighting technique has been around for a long time in vine crops and proven to increase yields, flower sites, fruit size and brix content. Let me know if you are interested in conducting a trial. #led #interlighting #cropyield #cannabiscultivation

Stage 1: Three-Leaf Stage Leaves are counted when the collar of the leaf can be seen without tearing the plant apart. The collar is the area where the leaf blade and leaf sheath attach. It is important that the date of planting be late enough so that sorghum can grow rapidly during the three-leaf stage. While the plant’s growth rate depends largely on temperature, this stage usually will occur about 10 days after emergence. Since the plant is quite small, relatively slow growth and poor weed control can seriously reduce yield. As the growing point is still below the soil surface, much of the leaf area can be removed (by hail or insects) without killing the plant. However, sorghum does not recover as vigorously as corn. If you've been following our grassland index field videos ?? , fields would have likely been inspected - scoring them based on observed species, bare patches, and weed presence. Each field is then assigned a ‘Grassland Index’ (GI) rating from 1 to 5, where GI1 is poor and GI5 is excellent. Indexing isn't a one-time task; it should be performed regularly. This ongoing assessment provides a data-driven system to help farmers prioritise which fields need attention and what actions to take. ?? Grassland indexing can also challenge assumptions in farmer's current reseeding plan. I wrote an article for Plenty Magazine called "Building the 'Nutwork.'" It's about how we can work together to turn tree crops (including acorns, chestnuts, hazelnuts, hickories, persimmons and more) into staple crops that we eat every day. I mean, we talk about resilient local food systems, but what about the food that is literally dropping on our heads? How do we make local, perennial crops an option for everyone -- not just nibbles for foragers? I hope you'll read and think about it with me. https://lnkd.in/egRMMdwF #agroforestry #treecrops #trees #agriculture #resilience
