Celebrate the City of Park City’s 44th birthday! The original Park City was founded in 1870, located just 14 miles northwest of Wichita. The current Park City began as the Park City Improvement District in 1953, starting from a quarter section of farmland purchased by developers. Over time, it grew into a thriving 3,321-acre community. After approval from the Sedgwick County Board of Commissioners, Park City officially became a third-class city on Nov. 26, 1980. Here’s to 44 years of growth and community spirit in Park City! #SedgwickCounty

An important reminder that while broker fees dominate the headlines, the real conversation needs to center around the Mayor’s City of Yes and the NYC Council’s City for All plans. These proposals represent a tangible opportunity to address housing accessibility and affordability in a meaningful way. It’s crucial to focus on actionable solutions that can benefit New Yorkers now, rather than getting caught up in debates over uncertainties. Let’s work together to prioritize policies that truly support our communities. #CityOfYes #CityForAll #HousingForAll #NYCHousing #AffordableHousing #CommunityFirst #NYCPolicy

Kyle is the second-fastest growing city in Texas, with a population of more than 50,000. From July 2022 to July 2023 the city saw a 9% increase in population. So how did a "small" but a rapidly growing city reach a funding possibility that would help the park system for years to come? It is a story of leadership, community input and support, and the commitment to improve and change lives. Great News for Sharon's Bay Park in New Lenox Governor Pritzker announced the 2025 OSLAD Grant award recipients in December, totaling $55.2 million. The New Lenox Community Park District (NLCPD) received $600,000 to renovate Sharon’s Bay Park. NLCPD is proud to be one of only two park districts in Will County to receive this substantial grant. The redevelopment plan includes creating three modern play zones tailored to various age groups, ensuring fun and safe recreational opportunities for children, teens, and families. The renovation also features a high school regulation basketball court, an upgraded volleyball court, and the addition of the innovative “Tween Central Social Hub,” designed with fitness equipment and social spaces for local tweens. The renovation also incorporates shoreline enhancements, beautifying the park and serving as a resource for environmental education. These improvements will create a welcoming space for ADA-accessible fishing and nature appreciation, fostering a deeper connection to the environment for park visitors. #expertsatplay, #designexcellence, #parks, #recreation, #recreationlandscape, #newlenox, #illinoisparks, #greenspace, #outdoors

The research is clear: mixed-income housing is key to upLifting Orlando. ?? 70% of young adult Americans said that it was harder for them to afford a home than it was for their parents’ generation. In October 2021, about half of Americans (49%) said this was a major problem where they live—and this is up 10 percentage points from early 2018. Affording a home is now an American challenge; we need one another to learn how to handle this challenge best. For over a decade, Lift Orlando has been working with residents to create mixed-income housing opportunities, bringing beautiful homes to places like Pendana at West Lakes and Pendana Senior Residences. Both were created thanks to our phenomenal partner Columbia Residential. You can upLift your neighbor with Lift Orlando, too. Excited to see the progress of our master planned community NorthShore, located along the St. Mary’s River in Camden County, Coastal Georgia. This 629-home community at build out includes a market-leading, resort-style amenity package including a 3,400 sqft clubhouse, boat launch, floating dock, observation deck, playground, and passive recreational/sports fields. ? NorthShore is a classic Drapac investment play: we identified a prime asset in an undervalued growth market, acquired it for a fraction of the infrastructure value, and added significant value during the hold period by undertaking thoughtful and strategic initiatives to restore and improve the community. ? A critical piece of our investment strategy has been to bring in multiple homebuilding partners including 1) Century Communities (NYSE: CCS), 2) Maronda Homes, and 3) Smith Family Homes. This approach has resulted in tremendous success for both the builders and overall community; builders are seeing strong absorption and price growth, and the community is appealing to a wider audience with a range of products and price points. ? Camden County is experiencing significant growth due to shifting demographic factors (+8% population and +26% household income growth over the last 5 years) and the expansion of regional economic drivers, which has translated directly to increased demand and home sale prices (+64% over the last 5 years). https://lnkd.in/dKTubEn9

Communities across America are demanding a reckoning for the destruction of their neighborhoods and cities by way of the construction of highways to serve newly fled suburban populations. The Cold War Era and American Expansionism led to grandiose plans of development and public safety while, in reality, leading to disinvestment in communities of color and devastating effects of loss of parks and third spaces, economic downfall of neighborhood businesses and detrimental health effects from pollution. Currently, New York State has a $1.5 Billion plan to cap the Kensington Expressway, a lasting result from this past, making it a 3/4 mile tunnel to continue funneling about 75,000 cars a day into Downtown Buffalo. This week on The Public Good, The Eastside Parkways Coalition discusses the history of the Humboldt Parkway and its reflection of a story known across the country. The Eastside Parkways Coalition is calling for the complete removal of the Scajaquada and 33 Expressways to restore this notable corridor and neighborhood to its rightful glory. Tune in and join the discussion: https://lnkd.in/gTXQzEjB

As a commercial property and small business owner, a Milwaukee resident and supporter of our local economy, I’d like to keep fanning the flames in support of Milwaukee’s burgeoning trail network. Momentum is building and hard work is underway expanding our city’s trail system. For decades we have collectively built and used the fantastic Oak Leaf Trail - with great benefit to our combined physical and mental health, and to our economy. Except that trail doesn’t reach all of us. Trails inspire development, connect community, provide alternative transportation options, expand neighborhoods, grow local economies and spark entrepreneurship. A trail renaissance is happening in Milwaukee and it’s important for you to know about it. Local community development organizations in partnership with city, county, state and federal input, are authoring plans to reclaim lost spaces for public betterment. At present there are miles of new trail being discussed linking our Milwaukee neighborhoods together. The Beerline Trail, The 30th Street Corridor, The Dragonfly Bridge and many others are moving from concept to reality. National benchmarking and research confirm the lasting benefits of public trails for all of us. Big wins like combatting climate change to personal benefits like meeting your neighbor for a fitness walk organically present themselves on the trail. Here is my call to action: Learn - a great jumping off point is the Route of the Badger website: https://lnkd.in/gNuQEx4v . Engage - let our elected officials know that we value connection. From a cost benefit analysis trails are a no brainer. And in the most incredible consideration, trails are a magnificently purple issue, void of politics. But in need of champions - so be a champion. Stay connected. Stay informed. Seek and locate the truth and accept that there are shades of truth that set the table for debate and discussion; for growth and understanding. See you on the trail!
