It’s an opportunity to actively reach out, connect, and offer support to those who’ve shared the same experiences, sacrifices, and challenges that come with military life. Inspired by @NishantRoy's heartfelt message on LinkedIn, I was reminded of the deep sacrifices our veterans make, with only 7% of Americans having served in our armed forces. As Nishant so rightly points out, the journey of service is life-shaping, and honoring it means addressing ongoing challenges like hunger, unemployment, and meaningful reintegration into civilian life. To honor veterans’ dedication, we can—and should—offer them meaningful opportunities in our workplaces, providing not just a job but a community where their skills and experience are valued. Let’s nourish their commitment with actions that make a difference. How are you supporting veterans in your workplace? Let’s share ideas and continue this important conversation.
Today, we celebrate the men and women who have answered the call to protect and defend our freedoms, a duty that less than 1% of Americans take on today. Only 7% of Americans have ever served, and for those of us in that small group, service wasn’t just a role—it was a life-shaping experience. We learned teamwork, resilience, and a dedication to excellence that stays with us forever. (Below is a photo of the team I served with in Iraq). But as we honor those who served, we must also recognize and address the issues that persist within this community, including hunger and unemployment. Hunger is far too common among service members and veterans, and at Chobani, we’re proud to play a small part by providing additional support to help veterans and military families put food on the table with the Hero Batch. Beyond nourishment, one of the most impactful ways we can honor veterans is by offering them meaningful opportunities in our workplaces. Veterans have led teams, managed logistics, and built strong communities—skills that our businesses need to grow and thrive. This Veterans Day, let’s do more than just thank those who served; let’s hire them, support them, and work to resolve the challenges they face. Today, let’s nourish the service and dedication of our veterans and recognize the lasting impact they make in all they do.

Remembrance Day will soon be here. There are a lot of people focused on preparations for paying tribute to our veterans. Wearing a poppy symbolizes remembering and honoring them. Sharing their stories keeps them in our hearts and thoughts before and beyond the day. There are many stories about their bravery and the sacrifices made by all who fought for the freedoms most people take for granted today. There are also many untold stories. Stories that veterans don't think we could handle or understand. Stories of fear, loneliness, isolation. Stories that we may never hear. This year, let's remember to respect our veterans too. Listen to their stories from a place of gratitude. Think about the lifestyle you have because of the life they lived. Try putting yourself in their shoes. I think of our military today and how few people want to be part of it. I think about what is happening around the world right now. I think about how the world is changing. I think that if we really want to pay tribute to our veterans, we should focus on peace. Maybe for one day everyone could be more accepting of others and their differences. Maybe for one day we could look for resolutions through communication instead of violence. Maybe for one day you could be the example of respect, understanding, and compassion towards others. And maybe that one day will lead to more of those days .......... November 11 is Remembrance Day. Every day is a good day to remember and a great day to be someone that our veterans would be proud of.
