As an organization with a mission centered on helping children thrive through play and learning, we continue to be devastated as we?witness the catastrophic impacts of the Israel-Hamas war on children and families in the Middle East over the last year, and disproportionately on Palestinian children and families living in Gaza.?We also acknowledge that the violence in Gaza has effects on families?and children in our own community – whether you have personal connections to Gaza, or?you’re trying to answer a child’s questions about?current events. ? It can feel hard to talk to children about traumas that?impact other children. The?escalation of the Israel-Hamas war this?past year may make caregivers feel overwhelmed with?confusion, sadness,?grief, or?fear. We’ve compiled resources that can help you talk to children about challenging topics, learn about and build empathy with children in Gaza, and?identify ways to help children and families in Gaza now. At South Coast Recovery Centre we believe strongly in our residents giving back to the local community! In the journey towards sobriety, supporting others who are less advantaged can be a game-changer. When we extend a helping hand, we not only uplift others but also strengthen our own recovery. It's a beautiful cycle of compassion and growth. Every act of kindness, whether big or small, has the potential to make a profound impact on someone's life. By giving back to the less advantaged, we cultivate empathy, gratitude, and a sense of purpose—all vital elements of a fulfilling recovery journey. Let's remember that we're all in this together, and by supporting one another, we create a community of hope and resilience. Together, we can break the cycle of addiction and build a brighter future for ourselves and those around us. Sometimes your purpose whispers. Read that again. ?? ?? ?? A respected pastor and coach recently shared that nugget of insight. I think your passion can whisper too. Both purpose, passion, and pain can help direct your generosity. So, in this fourth quarter, as you consider your giving and investment in making a difference, I challenge you to think differently. Before you give "where you always give", consider these questions: 1) What population do I care most about? Perhaps it's refugees, homeless, unborn, incarcerated, etc. 2) What pain have I endured, and how may generosity help to redeem that experience? Perhaps it was a diagnosis, a trauma endured, a trial overcome, a tragedy. 3) What do you feel called to do? What are your dreams? Consider how dreams or callings may help to inform your giving. When you stop and listen to the quiet whisper of your life, you may well discover a new purpose, passion or redemption for your pain that can connect you more deeply with your generosity's impact. #generosity #family #purpose

Do you know why people keep asking us, Israelis, about the children in Gaza? Because they know that we actually care. Do you know why people never ask pro-Hamas people about children in Gaza? Why no one asks: - Why Hamas leadership (the billionaires) didn't build even a single shelter for the children? - Why couldn't they build their terroristic tunnels far away from the kindergartens, schools, hospitals? Why they had to build it directly under the children? And you know, funny story: our children, Jewish, Israeli children - are also children. (Surprising, isn't it?) Why no one ever asks pro-Hamas people about them? For example: "You, pro-Hamas people, are asking for ceasefire, because you want to help children in Gaza. What about children in Israel that Hamas promises to keep m*rdering, r*ping and kidnapping, how do you want to ensure their safety if Hamas stays in power?". So, why these conversations are happening only about children in Gaza and only with Israelis? Because all of you, "good and kind people who care about children", know deep inside, under your deep denial, that Hamas (pro-Hamas, Palestinian leadership, UNRWA, UN, etc) do not care about children in Gaza at all. All of you, who are for "ceasefire" and against Israel, do not care about children in Gaza at all. You know that these children will be used for wars, you know that the wars will never stop because Hamas and UN don't want to stop it (they are billionaires thanks to these wars). You know that children won't stop being used as shields by Hamas. You know that children in Israel will continue to be m*rdered by Hamas (but you couldn't care less). But you are just using the fact that we, Jews/Israelis, are very empathic and tend to question ourselves all the time, and tend to blame ourselves without being guilty at all (like all victims of narcissistic abuse do). So you're torturing us, questioning about children in Gaza. And you are never questioning those who actually are guilty (Hamas and pro-Hamas), because you know they don't care. You are forcing us to chose between our children and children in Gaza, instead of helping all of us to fight against Hamas and saving all the children!!! You are using our humanity against us, and you don't have any humanity left in you. At all. #middleeast #future #sustainability #motivation #strategy #family #children

Today marks two years of full-scale war in Ukraine. Two years since millions of children’s lives have been torn apart and changed forever. 2.9 million children in Ukraine need support to overcome the horrifying impacts of this war. We're supporting children by: ?? Providing cash to families to buy essentials ?? Setting up safe spaces for children to play and recover ?? Providing mental health and psychological support to help children process the traumatic experiences they’ve faced ?? Establishing digital learning centres so children who aren’t able to attend school can continue to learn ?? #War and #crisis are two words that bring to mind images of destruction, chaos, and suffering. It is a reality that many children and families around the world are forced to endure on a daily basis. The impact of war and crisis on children and families is truly heartbreaking, as they are often the most vulnerable and innocent victims caught in the crossfire. #Children are supposed to be carefree, innocent beings, but in war-torn countries, their childhood is stolen from them. Instead of playing with toys and going to school, they are faced with the harsh realities of violence, hunger, and loss. Families are torn apart, homes destroyed, and lives shattered beyond repair. The trauma that children and families experience in war and crisis situations is unimaginable. The constant fear of death or injury, the lack of basic necessities like food and shelter, and the uncertainty of what the future holds all take a toll on their mental and emotional well-being. Many children suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression, while families struggle to cope with the loss of loved ones and the destruction of their communities. Despite the immense challenges they face, children and families in war and crisis zones show remarkable resilience and strength. They cling to hope, holding onto the belief that one day, peace will prevail and they will be able to rebuild their lives. #Organizations and individuals around the world work tirelessly to provide aid and support to those affected by war and crisis, offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of darkness. As we go about our daily lives, it is important to remember the children and families who are suffering because of war and crisis. We must not turn a blind eye to their plight, but instead, stand in solidarity with them, advocating for peace and justice. Every child deserves a childhood free from fear and violence, every family deserves a home where they can feel safe and secure. In the face of such immense suffering, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. But we must remember that even the smallest act of kindness or support can make a difference in the lives of those affected by war and crisis. Together, we can work towards a world where children and families no longer have to endure the horrors of war and crisis, but instead can live in peace and harmony. #savethechildren #sudancrisis

Soon. InshaAllah, we will meet kids in Africa, where the environment and circumstances will be difficult. Our intention to bring joy, comfort, and hope to the kids, especially the orphans, would be very much appreciated by the local families, Here are a few thoughts on how we approach our projects and linked them to the kids: 1. **Be Present and Engaged**: Sometimes, just being fully present with the children can make a huge difference. Listen to them, play with them, and let them know that they matter. 2. **Create Moments of Joy**: Even in the harshest conditions, small acts of kindness and fun activities can brighten a child's day. Whether it's storytelling, games, or simply laughing together, these moments can be cherished and remembered. 3. **Show Empathy and Understanding**: Acknowledge their feelings and the difficulties they may be facing. Offering a listening ear and words of comfort can help them feel supported. 4. **Involve the Families**: Engage with the families and parents, offering them encouragement and support as well. A strong, unified community can be a source of strength during tough times. 5. **Focus on the Orphans**: Pay special attention to the orphans, who may be feeling particularly vulnerable. Ensure they feel included, loved, and cared for by the community. Remember, even in the darkest times, your efforts to bring light to these children’s lives will have a lasting impact.
