SUCCESS SPOTLIGHT Mary came to Dress for Success Cleveland because she had two upcoming interviews: one specific interview with AutoZone, to be a driver delivering parts to their vendors; and another to see what opportunities she could find at the Ohio Means Jobs job fair. Mary shared with the DFSC Career Coach that she likes to be outside and always “moving” so therefore felt delivering AutoZone parts would be a perfect fit for her. However, she was very nervous because it had been awhile since she last interviewed. Mary was apprehensive of her awareness of today’s interview process and how to answer interview questions appropriately and what questions an employer should be allowed to ask. After reviewing the E-Learning tools available to her online and receiving our Beginning Your Career Journey pamphlet, Mary felt better prepared for her interview process. She was especially interested and relieved to realize she could practice and get feedback from our mock interview tool, which allows interaction with an AI career coach. Dressed from the inside out with tools and the proper attire, Mary experienced a totally transformative vision of herself; she now questioned why she was only seeking a “driver” role, as she now envisioned so much more for her future. Mary felt confident and like a boss! Dress for Success Cleveland provides women tools, education, and awareness so women can self-define success for their individual journeys. We engage in a process of self-discovery, for self-realization so self-actualization can occur—and that is exactly what happened to Mary! ??I attended an in-person job fair last week. It has taken me a few days to deconstruct what I experienced vs. what I expected. ??The event description advised updating resumes and dressing professionally because we would be face-to-face with actual hiring managers from ‘leading’ companies in the area. ??There may have been 10 companies at this job fair, none of which I had heard of. Only one of the companies advertised in the lineup was actually there. ??I kept looking for an obscure corridor I could take to find the real job fair. But there was none. It took me longer to get into the meeting room than it did to walk the room and talk with each company. ????There were no hiring managers that I met, and no resumes requested. Most of the folks I talked to sent me to their website. ????????????????I saw grown men with their mothers in tow, entire families complete with baby strollers and crying infants, and BFFs with lattes in hand asking if they could attend an interview together. ??Leggings, shorts, holey jeans, and midriff tops showing lots of skin and belly buttons appeared to have been the dress code. I actually felt wildly overdressed in my knee-length dress and black flats. ??There was one young lady whose shorts were so short I could see her “Tuesday” underwear. It was Thursday. ??It reminded me of the state of today’s job market – 10 jobs: thousands of job seekers. ??On the bright side, I was able to fit in 2 hours of “The Collaborative Learning Podcast” during the round-trip drive. Does anyone have experience with a VIRTUAL job fair that you could share with me? I’m first in line for spending time on value-added activities, but I’m struggling to find the ROI for this one.

?? Let's add some laughter to your day! ?? Let's lighten the mood and dive into some classic recruiting jokes: ??? Ever wonder why the recruiter brought a map to the job fair? Because they heard they were looking for "direction" and decided to give it to them! ?? And why did the recruiter bring a plant to the interview? Because they wanted to ensure they were "growing" their team with the right candidate! ?? Lastly, why don't recruiters ever get lost? Because they always have a "hire" sense of direction! Let's keep the laughs rolling and make today a little brighter! ??? #RecruitingHumor #WorkLifeBalance

Not only is Nilesh a great Agileist; he's a great person with a big, genuine heart.
In these difficult times, it's more important than ever to come together and support one another. That's why I'm setting up a Zoom meeting for anyone who needs emotional or mental support. This is not a job fair, so come without expectations to be staffed. It's simply a space for humans to connect with other humans and be there for one another. If you're interested, please DM me with your preferred time, and I will set up the call and add you to the invite. Let's be there for each other and get through these challenging times together. Thank you. #mentalhealthawareness #emotionalwellness #supportsystem

Spending time at a job fair is an investment in your future. However, when interviews feel rushed or the interviewer seems disinterested, it can leave you with a sense of unease. In a recent experience, I found myself wondering if I should have brought my dogs along, completed my taxes, or even planned out what to make for dinner. It's crucial to be respectful and attentive during interviews, so why is it that some individuals find it necessary to prioritize their phones over the task at hand? Let's all remember to be present and engaged during interviews to make the most of these opportunities. #jobinterview #careeradvice #professionalism

Meeting candidates in person, especially in a pressure-free environment, can make all the difference in understanding their true potential. When individuals are not stressed, they can showcase their best skills and qualities, which is what every employer ultimately seeks. Reflecting on our first Reverse Job Fair, the massive takeaway was the shift in perception among employers. Many discovered that disability does not equate to a lack of skills or qualifications. Seeing candidates perform at their best without the pressure of traditional interviews allows employers to truly gauge their suitability for the role. Our Reverse Job Fair at Pendleton Gateway on 6th September aims to create this environment once again, fostering genuine connections between businesses and neurodiverse candidates. Join us in this transformative experience and see firsthand the incredible talent that thrives when given the right opportunity. #ReverseJobFair #InclusiveEmployment #NeurodiverseTalent #GreaterManchester #Salford #DiversityAndInclusion #CareerDevelopment #SupportedEmploymentService

Do you order promotional or “swag” items for your org? Let me introduce you to my most used promo item! My FBI-LEEDA screen cleaner cloth. I have kept it in my desk since I attended the MPR class last May and I use it weekly. I love getting practical promo items. So if you’re looking for items to hand out at the next community event or job fair, here is some inspiration for you: Screen cleaner cloth ?? Magnetic bag clip - these always get used at my house! Keychain tape measure - I got this item at a conference in 2017 or 2018 and love to keep in a kitchen drawer for small measurements. What I always like but never use: Stress balls - I think these are fun and I love unique shapes but I don’t use them. Things with cords. What promo items have you kept/loved/used?

?????????? ?????? ?????? ????????????????: Mindset where 80% of people in 20's are. Real Incident. As a volunteer in Job fair conduct in the college I found a person had come to attend the Interview along with his mother. As he was new to the place he did not know where a printer shop was. He was stumbling here and there but never approached us. But for a change his mother approached and learnt about the place and passed on to him. That's not the only case and it's same with many others. This results in creating a barrier to learn new things. ps: Note Even Mother doesn't know the Hunger of the child unless until They cry. #communication #LifeLesson #PersonalGrowth #JobFair #AskForHelp #YouthChallenges #OvercomingBarriers #LearningOpportunities #CollegeExperience #ProfessionalDevelopment #CommunicationSkills #YoungAdults #RealStories

Are you currently serving in the military, a veteran, or within the Blue Light services, needing to think about your future career transition? If so, this event is on tomorrow at Wetherby Racecourse Hospitality & Events & there's still a handful of places to take. If you can't attend, I'd highly recommend LinkingIn with everyone involved. I love how this event has a focused aim & isn't the traditional, 'wandering around, not sure what I'm supposed to do, or what I should say, no preparation job fair'. The set-up of this event is outstanding & 100% focuses the mind of all attendees, inc the employers etc... Outstanding attention to detail & a deep understanding of what people need from an event like this. Most people facing a transition between military & civilian life, have massive concerns about their futures & an event like this can be totally be outside of their comfort zones & daunting, whereas, this way, by having pre-determined appointment times, knowing whom you are meeting, from what business & where & why, makes it a smooth process, which means your brains can then just focus on each conversation... Excellent work Forces Transition Group Ltd!! See you tomorrow... I am very much looking forward to exhibiting my business, Career Garage (UK), where I get to explain the power of LinkedIn, within the job search space, plus the additional bonus of meeting John Stephenson - Forces Transition, Mandy Stephenson & Tom Adams face to face!!
