More now than ever, it's clear that in 2024 brands seeking to align with the music to stay relevant, especially on social... One example is PepsiCo's new beverage brand Starry leveraging Ice Spice for their prime-time Super Bowl commercial... This collaboration was not only engaging to young consumers. Still, it was also relevant in culture following Ice Spice's meteoric rise, her collaboration and tour with Taylor Swift, and making an über popular song for the Barbie Movie. With this year's Super Bowl having over 123.7 million viewers, the most ever in history, and tens of millions of views on social media, including a viral trend, this is a perfect example of how day-trading attention in music can leverage a brand into public discourse in an organic and culturally relevant manner. https://lnkd.in/eywNrsgi #musicindustry #icespice #superbowl #commercial #client

Two massive Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge—and not a single piece of merch between us. My brother and I recently went to a game, and while the atmosphere was buzzing??, I decided to skip the stadium food and bring my own Tesco meal deal instead. Spending £10 on chicken strips and chips didn’t feel worth it when I could buy a decent Tesco meal deal for a fraction of the price. For me, that £10 is better spent on merchandise—especially after a win when it feels like the perfect souvenir of the experience. It got me thinking about how concession prices shape the entire match-day experience. A standout example is the Atlanta Falcons, who drastically cut food and beverage prices at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017. The results? ? 30% increase in concession transactions ? 20% rise in merchandise sales ? Fans buying more food before kickoff than during entire games previously As a sports business student, I can’t help but wonder ??: Could football stadiums benefit from a similar approach? Lower prices could boost sales and make the match-day experience more enjoyable for fans. Could this be implemented in the Premier League? Ps: My jersey is actually in my bag for some reason—don’t ask me why I didn’t wear it. We won the game by the way #SportsBusiness #31dayschallenge #football #SportsMarketing

Dismal NFL Thanksgiving matchups won't get in the way of outrageous ad spending. According to advance booking data from Guideline, which captures actual agency investment from the six major U.S. holding companies as well as most of the large independent shops, the average unit cost for the three Thanksgiving Day games on CBS, Fox and NBC works out to nearly $1.5 million per each 30-second spot. https://lnkd.in/egZyPch8

#InTheClubWithGina edition 6 It's almost game time, fellow club lovers... are you ready for it? https://lnkd.in/gqyX-ag6 Clubs certainly are, with Sam's spreading joy through Member's Mark mystery boxes https://lnkd.in/g8A9Rq3k, BJ's looking to help you "save like a champion" with a $15 digital coupon for any $150 purchase https://lnkd.in/gb8p2_5z, and Costco packaging all your "big game essentials" into a convenient same-day delivery collection https://lnkd.in/g74yHNZJ. But that's not all that's big (or should I say super?) this week. Micro insights from the week in club: - The most breaking news around Costco is still its brand new CFO Gary Millerchip https://lnkd.in/gY_K5ace https://lnkd.in/gBZXzaHU, but it also reported January sales results showing sustained strength in its ecommerce business, even as nonfood comps lagged. Costco has been leveraging its online site to communicate the benefit of general merchandise purchases, particularly for big items like appliances, but these results beg the question: is it working, or is online grocery scoring touchdowns for club, too? https://lnkd.in/gMfV5Y2M - In terms of new openings, Costco is gaining yardage on its competitors. Representatives in Warwick, Rhode Island reached out to Costco to shop for a spot in the state. BJ's currently owns 100% of the club market in Rhode Island after Sam's Club exited - twice, once in 2012 and again in 2017. A Costco in Warwick would be a major test of BJ's dominance in the Northeast. https://lnkd.in/gttUSXA5 But BJ's is making big plays in the Sam's-dominated South, announcing plans to open its third club in two years in Tennessee on Feb. 16, its 244th overall. https://lnkd.in/ghxfr854 Meanwhile, Costco also won approval for an Economic Development Agreement in Weatherford, Texas, which would mark its 39th club in the state; an incremental gain on Sam's, which owns nearly 70% of the club market in the state. https://lnkd.in/gvEsX3Qg - Speaking of Texas, Sam's this week announced an Open Call Event on April 4 in Dallas. Such events offer a unique opportunity for small businesses and challenger brands to gain exposure on Sam's shelves. Watch for Sam's top draft picks coming out of this one. https://lnkd.in/gKNtZX3z #retail #costco #samsclub #bjs
