Alert: Phoenix has enacted a new law now in effect, camping is prohibited within 500 feet of schools, shelters, daycares, or parks. This measure aims to address safety and public health concerns, ensuring that the spaces most frequented by vulnerable populations, especially children, remain safe and accessible. Violations of this ordinance carry significant consequences, including a $100 fine and a misdemeanor booking. The implementation of this law reflects ongoing efforts to manage public spaces while balancing the needs of the community, including those who find themselves without stable housing. At A New Leaf, while we understand the intent behind such regulations, we also recognize the challenges they pose to our homeless community members. We remain committed to advocating for compassionate solutions that support all individuals affected by homelessness, providing them with the resources and assistance they need to secure stable and safe accommodations. We encourage community members to stay informed about these new regulations and to join us in supporting initiatives that offer real solutions and support for those in need. Together, we can work towards a community that upholds safety and dignity for everyone. https://lnkd.in/grmFTyre

Idiocracy, cruelty, desperation? Both people and cities are struggling with solutions that merely shuffle people around and mask a broader issue. A supply issue. The fact is that rates of homelessness are more directly tied to the price of housing and the inelasticity of a local housing market than mental health, the economy, or disability. What we are seeing now play out is the result of years of housing policies designed to drive up the cost of single family homes to the benefit of those who were able to afford them in the first place. It’s time we stop letting homeowners run the show, and allow more affordable housing and multi family housing in our cities. Or we can, you know, just ban blankets in public spaces.

?? STAY WATER SAFE ?? As the temperatures rise it can be tempting to dip into open water, but there are often hidden dangers which everyone should be aware of. ? It's often extremely cold and people can get into difficulty and drown. Cold water shock can kill in less than a minute. ? There may be hidden currents. ? It's hard to judge the depth of open water. ? There are no lifeguards. Follow our top tips to stay safe: ? Look for the warning or guidance signs ? Supervise children closely near water. ? Never jump into open water. ? Take care when walking or running near open water. ? Call 999 immediately if you see someone in trouble. Councillor Norma Stephenson, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Access, Communities and Community Safety, said: “Open water can look really inviting in warm weather but the hidden risks can be fatal, so we would always advise against swimming in the river. “Where the water is accessible in parks and open spaces there are warning signs to help prevent accidents but if you do want to go for a dip, we encourage people to visit one of our leisure centre pools, where you can swim safely and comfortably in the presence of a lifeguard.” Tees Active | #watersafety

This is a result of greed, low wages, and a lack of deeply affordable housing and bad policy. Food banks are doing their best, but they are not a solution but a bridge. Living wages and deeply affordable housing of many kinds are part of the solution. In the last two weeks we’ve seen new supportive housing solutions turned down in Aurora and Hamilton in a housing crisis. Projects that are part of the solution. This is shameful. We’ve also seen people rise up to join advocacy efforts to not accept this and to push for immediate action. We need deeply affordable housing and we need it now. Groups like Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness and Canadian Housing and Renewal Association have put forth ideas, policy options and plans to support all levels of government to move forward on this life and death issue. Let’s work with them and other advocates like Diana Chan McNally Lorraine Lam and Cathy Crowe to make sure the voices of our most vulnerable are heard, and that everyone realizes their right to housing. The time is now….be part of the solution! Blue Door

How should tenants handle conflict with their neighbor? Noise? Parking Issue? You have tried to solve the problem and the situation is becoming worse? heated, emotional, stressful. Best practice not to try and resolve the conflict yourself. Landlords and property managers are responsible for the peaceful enjoyment for all tenants. The manager is there to help each party understand the rules of the property and wording in the lease agreement and reasonable rules. Incidents are documented and recorded. Gather important evidence for yourself. If the behavior continues, It is important to remember that landlords must follow Residential Tenancies Act legislation when there is a breach in the lease agreement and appropriate steps need to be followed in order to resolve any difficult situation. . #landlordsupport #freeconsultation #consultation #winnipeg #winnipegrealestate #winnipegproperty #winnipegphotographer #winnipegbusiness #winnipeglocal #winnipegeats #winnipeglife #propertymanagement #manitobalocal #manitobaproperties #forsale #tenants #tenantcalling #winnipegestate #winnipegbuild #exploremanitoba #onlyinpeg #winnipegdaily #tenantinsurance #manitobainsurance #MacRealPropertyManagement #PropertyManagement #LandlordSupport #CommunityFirst #MacRealPropertyManagement

We closed on a 30-plex 2 weeks ago. We held a Town Hall the next day. The meeting was a big success! Here's how we structured it: 1. Gave an overview of the meeting 2. Talked over our rehab plans 3. Held an open Q&A 3 Major Requests Residents Made 1. They want easier laundry access 2. They want walkways fumigated 3. They want a fence demolished 3 Major Takeaways I Learnt 1. Residents want transparency 2. Residents want to be heard 3. Residents want better homes If you talk about the improvements, & warn about the inconvenience, They are happy to oblige. (As long as you keep your word)
