New Post: SBA Awards Over $3 Million to Support STEM and R&D-Focused Small Businesses Through Growth Accelerator Fund - https://lnkd.in/g6yHFz6G - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the winners of the 2024 Growth Accelerator Fund Competition (GAFC) Stage Two. Forty-four accelerator partnerships will receive between $50,000 and $150,000 each to support small businesses and startups focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as research and development (R&D). These awards are aimed at advancing national priorities such as economic security, domestic manufacturing, sustainability, and biotechnology. The GAFC Stage Two awards build upon Stage One’s focus on network building by enhancing the support provided to small businesses and startups. The awarded accelerator partnerships represent a wide range of public, private, nonprofit, and academic institutions from across 34 U.S. states and territories, including Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. These partnerships work collaboratively to drive innovation and support emerging businesses nationwide. Impact of the Growth Accelerator Fund Since its launch in 2014, the GAFC has become a vital source of support for innovation-focused entrepreneurship organizations and the communities they serve. Over the past decade, the SBA has awarded 566 prizes, totaling over $33 million. 2024 Growth Accelerator Fund Stage Two Winners The 2024 GAFC Stage Two winners support national priorities across several focus areas, including National and Economic Security, Domestic Manufacturing and Production, and Sustainability and Biotechnology. Offering comprehensive services, from mentorship to MVP development, market analysis, pitch creation, and funding access, guiding founders through the early stages of their entrepreneurial journey, their goal is to help young entrepreneurs leap from zero to one, supporting them through initial challenges and preparing a product ready to be presented to investors and venture capitalists. Space Mantis is working to establish a club of local entrepreneurs and industrialists, creating a direct meeting point between founders and investors to cultivate a fertile environment where ideas can receive the proper financial and strategic support. Thank you to every one who made it to the 2024 #UNSWDemoDay, to support Givewrap and our little team of big-dreaming misfits. The overwhelming amount of love for the Brand and its mission, is still something I'm pinching myself about every day. It's such a funny thing.. As a Founder, you can have such a strong and clear vision about what it is you want to create and build. But because it's still so early on in the the journey, it's hard to know how to actually get there, to properly make that big dream into a reality. I guess from my experience, what it's come down to, is finding those other crazy dreamers, who see what you see. Who have the same conviction, courage and unrelenting passion, to go on that journey with you. So to Ant Hatton & Hans Christian Berents - my Co-Founders, my battle brothers and my best friends. SIBB-Incubator Alumni and entrepreneur?Rachel Pregun?and her funding story of a VC-backed startup was with us in January, and we started the Ask Female Founders Event series in 2024 at the SIBB Incubator Space. The entrepreneur who had launched HeyDay, a startup in the HR environment, and who successfully secured two rounds of funding at the time, opened up to our community and answered more than 50 questions. The interesting twist: at while ago, she needed to shut down this venture and today, she is a successful founder again with her new startup?project b. So Rachel has a lot to tell, and we are humbled that she came to visit us and share her insights with our community. Moderator Urte Zahn hold the space well?and created a special atmosphere, allowing a lot of questions to be asked without fear - all questions were valued as equal and as valuable for the community. Everyone was so quiet you could hear a needle fall - obviously, everyone did not want to miss any of Rachels Answers. When people left, we looked into a lot of happy faces, obviously tremendously motivated, although Rachel shared a story of a startup that in the end did not work out. However, her success story of getting funding, finding product-market fit and being a founder with a strong vision was very inspiring for our community. And the fact that investors now value her experience is such a good information as well. "Ask Female Founders" is not just a platform for women but a welcoming community for everyone interested in entrepreneurship. The journey of NIYOU, a startup born from within an Entrepreneurship class at Creighton University's Heider College of Business, exemplifies innovation and collaboration. Two students, who had never worked together, joined forces due to their complementary skills. Just one year after their initial 60-day startup sprint, they had the chance to showcase their venture at the Big East startup competition.
