Run the Future, a joint venture between Cambiar Education and Formation Ventures, provides workshops where learners obtain critical entrepreneurship skills, such as identifying problems that they care about and building a business that solves those problems. In 2023 during our last implementation of these workshops, young entrepreneurs from all over the world came together to build businesses that promoted healthy eating, advocated for animal welfare, helped other businesses build tools to increase customer satisfaction, and much more. I was born and raised in rural USA.?Coming from a 2 stop-light town, it’s hard to digest how big the world is.?However, I wouldn’t trade my hometown vibes for anything in the world. Rural communities breed a lot of altruistic + positive attributes like kindness, patience, and honesty. It also breeds scrappiness, grit, and the ability to create a lot with a little. That’s why, in every entrepreneurial venture, I’ve endeavored to give back to my hometown of Eastern NC. I love being a black woman from the South. The Tuscarorans were known for cultivating hemp and shipping globally before English settlement. That’s rich to me. It demonstrates the rich heritage of minorities in the Deep South and how they worked together, using the land to create economy. Wrapping up another fulfilling week, I find myself leaning into the joy of early Fridays—a gateway to weekends filled with the warmth of family, the laughter of friends, and my newfound passion for gardening. As we step into March next week, it’s the perfect time to start planting those seeds, both literally in the garden and metaphorically in our lives. This week has been a testament to growth and sharing, from engaging with clients who’ve entrusted me with their challenges to exploring potential new joint ventures that could elevate leadership in real estate, private equity, and the entrepreneurial world. The one-on-one meetings have been particularly enlightening, offering a chance to forge deeper connections and discuss how we can be agents of change in our industries and communities. As I take a well-deserved walk in the sunshine, I’m reminded of the importance of self-care and pausing to reflect on the bridges built this week.
